Job summary
The purpose of this position is to implement and lead Health, Environmental and Safety programs relative to a large national/international corporate account.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Leads programs and initiatives to meet regulatory requirements and HSE needs of a client account. Evaluates new and existing programs to assess suitability and the need for changes.
Supports the process for monitoring injury, illness, and incident related performance. Supports the development and implementation of strategic solutions that will improve the performance results and maintain compliance.
Acts as a resource to staff and internal customers as the HSE subject matter expert. Provides direct and timely advice and information management in matters related to HSE performance, compliance, metrics, trends, and concerns.
Leads the modeling of HSE plans, playbooks, policies, processes, and procedures for the account, making them current, complete, and effectively implemented for the client.
Anticipates and responds to client concerns regarding HSE matters.
Domestic or international travel up to 20%.

Supervisory responsibilities
Provides formal supervision to individual employees. Recommends staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action, and termination. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university. Minimum of 8 years of related experience.
Working knowledge of federal, state and local health and safety, and environmental regulations is essential. Direct experience dealing with regulatory agencies and/or compliance officers is preferred.
Experience working in manufacturing and/or chemical handling is preferred.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Any of the following: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) preferred. Familiar with California specific regulations preferred.
Communication skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues.
Financial knowledge
Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.
Reasoning ability
Ability to tackle advanced problems and look after a variety of options in complex situations. Requires authority level analytical and quantitative skills with validated experience in developing strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.
