Senior Healthcare Business Analyst Job at Upstream Accountable Care Network

Upstream Accountable Care Network Remote

Description:

At UpStream we believe good health is a state of independence where each person has the capacity to live a long, happy, and active life. We aim to deliver the type of care our members need to regain and maintain their independence by delivering effective, efficient, and sustainable care. We are a growing company and are excited to invite caring, detailed, and team-oriented people to join our team.

How you’ll help

As a member of UpStream’s Data & Analytics team your work will provide the necessary information and bring insights and meaning to available data that will be used by our care teams, physicians and practice partners to help improve the lives of the patients we touch. You will complete regular and ad hoc reporting and analysis that supports our care teams and operations. You will provide critical insights to clinicians and clinical leaders, our operational leaders as well as our analytics and application development teams. You will be responsible for a deep knowledge of the clinical and financial data associated with one or more of our populations or markets and work closely with leaders to ensure we are able to deliver high-quality care and meet our performance objectives as we work together to support better health.

What you’ll do

  • Complete regular reporting and analysis with a focus on bringing insights and meaning to the available data through the use of interactive dashboards, data storytelling, and statistical analysis
  • Complete ad hoc reporting and analysis based on clinical operations and business operations needs
  • Be an advocate for the data and analytics needs of the populations and markets you support and work closely with our analytics development and data science teams to improve our processes, methodologies, analytics tools/applications and data science models
  • Work with external partners (health insurance companies/payors) to coordinate data files and data exchanges for the populations and markets you support including proactively bringing attention to potential data gaps and data inconsistencies and follow-up with internal and external teams to address them
  • Drive innovation and transformation across our operations leveraging data and analytics
  • Learn about healthcare transformation and determine how data and analytics can support our near- and long-term goals
  • Understand the needs and challenges of a fast-growth organization and participate in its development
Requirements:
  • Experience managing and operating a portfolio of reporting tools and analytics applications including executing complex analysis across a variety of data sources leveraging appropriate statistical methods as needed
  • Experience providing analytics insight with a focus on engaging end-users and supporting them in self-service analytics
  • Experience configuring/customizing analytics tools such as PowerBI (preferred), Tableau, Qlik or similar
  • Working with healthcare data – including claims/administrative/financial data and/or clinical data (electronic health records) and experience in the weeds, not just reviewing reports
  • Proven experience operating successfully within ambiguity; you are a results-oriented professional who can make sense of chaos to continually deliver desired results
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and critical problem-solving skills; willingness to challenge yourself and others and take calculated risks to grow the business
  • Deep passion for making an impact in healthcare with a desire to be an early member of a growing team
  • Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and can communicate information appropriately based on your audience
  • Demonstrated humility with a low ego and a dedication to service

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience working on value-based care or population health programs
  • Experience working with health care payors (health insurance companies), payor reporting, and/or working with Milliman’s MedInsight or other claims analytics tool(s)
  • Health economics analysis and/or healthcare quality reporting (including knowledge of ICD, CPT, DRG and related healthcare cost and episode groupers, HEDIS, stars ratings, and other clinical nomenclature)
  • Knowledge and experience working with protected health data including associated regulatory considerations including HIPAA

Location/working arrangements – This is a remote position supporting our South Carolina market. Candidates must reside in South Carolina and be willing to travel overnight for team meetings and training sessions. Work must be performed from within the United States.
