Delta 6 provides assured space access and Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) for national space enterprises and joint warfighters. To accomplish its mission, Delta 6 leads, directs, executes, and manages USSF Cyber defending the USSF's ground-based networks, devices, space vehicles and command and control networks that enable space-based operations against foreign actors attempting to deny, degrade, or influence the cyberspace domain.
The Delta 6 Director of Operations (S3/5/7) provides expert and high-level leadership for the Delta 6 global warfighting enterprise, especially on issues requiring broad-based understanding of cyberspace strategy, policy, doctrine, and capabilities. The S3/5/7 directorate (as part of the Delta 6 S-Staff) handles setting the operational tempo and providing leadership with situational awareness of the current Space Access and Cyber Operations environment. The directorate requires a broad range of technical aptitude, effective intrapersonal and intra-organizational solutions, a detailed understanding of space systems, command and control, and cyberspace disciplines and analytical problems solving skills.
The directorate and staff will be transformation support for the USSF Delta 6 organization’s S-staff and CTS. USSF Delta 6 needs expert help to activate, establish, and mature a functional S-Staff and CTS in support of newly created and maturing Cyber Squadrons within two years of contract award.
The support staff will organize the S3/5/7 to meet basic support requirements of all entities of Delta 6 to include operational units and other S-Staff entities while providing on-site implementation activities to assist acceleration of S3/5/7 maturity to better enable CYS delivery of cyber effects to the supported Space Mission Deltas.
The support staff will advise and support S3/5/7 on the development of Delta 6 operational publications (e.g., CONOPs development) as well as act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for joint and service operations, driving effective delivery of cyber effects and operational integration by the CYS to their supported Space Mission Delta.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education / Certifications
- Bachelors – Engineering (Aero/Computer)
- Masters – Engineering (Aero/Computer) or IT systems management
- Joint Professional Military Education or equivalent: JPME Level 2
- Cyber certifications should include a mixture of the following: CISSP, CISA, Security+, CEH, CISM, GSEC, SSCP, CASP, GCIH, OSCP. More certifications make you a stronger candidate.
Skills / Experience Required
- 8-10 years in the space domain or cyber domain field
- Make recommendations on tailoring of applicable plans, policies, and procedures to optimize cyber effects delivery based on the unique mission, architecture, and threats relative to supported Space Mission Deltas
- Provide organizational design expertise and develop a directorate maturity plan outlining the S3/5/7 end-state, roadmap, and timeline for execution which focuses on maximizing support for CYS cyber effects delivery
- Provide a process design plan that outlines governance recommendations for S3/5/7 driven working groups that enable CYS support to the Space Mission Delta
- Serve as a SME to the S3/5/7 Chief of Training and support development of a Delta 6 strategy for training execution, informing the USSF enterprise-level transformation of cyber training and career development
- Advise and support S3/5/7 leadership with expected personnel turnover and related continuity challenges affecting successful maturity of the directorate, and risks associated with reduced support effecting CYS mission execution
Security Clearance
Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense (DoD) active security clearance may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and may include lifting thirty (30) pounds, as necessary.
