Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Retail Creative Director to maintain the look and feel of NMOA Shop in all outlets.
- Oversee the daily retail operations, including Museum Shop (on site and off site), e-commerce shop ensuring store runs smoothly and effectively.
- Initiate and manage orders in keeping with the museum mission and brand.
- Determine best-sellers and iconic products.
- Manage merchandise replenishment on the selling floor (including e-commerce) and backstock standards.
- Establish optimal stock to sales levels.
- Monitor inventory integrity and minimize shrinkage.
- Apply on-going process review and best practice implementation
- Provide elevated customer service and collect customer feedback.
- Maintain knowledge of Museum’s exhibitions, programs, and events to inform visitors.
- Communicate product information and talking points for customer engagement
- Under the guidance of the Retail Creative Director, plan and execute NMOA Shop visual retail strategy.
- Oversee and control appearance standards and support merchandising efforts.
- Guide/train/reinforce the retail team with the appearance standards.
- Demonstrate a high standard for product display and care.

- Oversees the HR resource needs of the retail operation, in line with the retail manager
- Engages and communicates with other departments to cross promote retail operations.

Retail Financial Performance
- Manages purchase to pay cycle of inventoriable products
- Responsible for tracking orders and maintains Open-to-Buy budget.
- Provides monthly, quarterly, and annual retail management report to the leadership.
- Collaborate with Retail Creative Director and CFO to build a working budget.
- Implement levers to stimulate sales to achieve/exceed revenue and margin plan.
- Generates report analytics, determine demographics, develop marketing ideas, and build customer loyalty
- Track best-sellers and implement automated replenishment process
- Continual goal to increase inventory turnover rate and productivity
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years in retail buying/management with a strong operational background, preferably in specialty boutique or concept-driven retail environment.
- Have keen interest in the mission of the Museum.
- A background in art or creative field is a plus.
- A penchant for curiosity and affinity for books and culture.
- Highly proficient in retail systems, POS, E-commerce particularly Shopify, analytics tools, Microsoft Excel and merchant banking and accounts payable process.
- Experience in retail financial planning and reporting, especially in inventory management.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- The position is full-time on-site work.
- Able to work Wednesday through Sunday. It may require working off hours, depending on the Museum’s events.

Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 annual salary with a comprehensive benefits package including medical plan, dental plan, vision plan, life insurance, pension, 401K retirement, and generous paid time off.
