The Edge Networking Control Network Specialist 2 position is a highly technical and hands-on network position within the Edge Networking team under the Office of Administration Network, Unified Telecommunications, and Security Operations division.
The position is focused on, but not limited to, the direct hands-on support, evaluation, and design of the Commonwealth’s complex and continuously evolving information technology network infrastructure.
The Edge Networking Control team supports all planned network deployments and upgrades. The Control team also provides advanced network support for complex and specialized networking systems across the Commonwealth’s Enterprise. These network technologies include but are not limited to: PennDOT’s Traffic Management Centers’ field networks, specialized Public Safety networks, statewide fiber initiatives, multiple SD WAN environments, multiple wireless networks, and edge firewalls (as needed).
The Control team provides incident and event support to operations for all Commonwealth agencies, provides direct oversight in all network-related changes in the edge, and supports other networking teams in the design, support, and architecture of highly sensitive Commonwealth field and specialty networks.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 1-hour lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Network Specialist 1; or
- Two years of information technology experience that includes one year of technical experience in network operation or network maintenance, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
- Four years of information technology experience that includes one year of technical experience in network operation or network maintenance; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of technical experience in network operation or network maintenance.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
