Reporting to the Plant Director, as the Senior Operations Manager you will be responsible for all production activity and results for a three shift, seven-day operation of a 100,000 square foot facility with 450 full time employees, which produces $50 million in gross sales and uses approximately $22 million in materials. You will oversee the planning, organization, and execution of a production process which ensures availability of necessary material, equipment, and labor resources. You will supervise the daily operations of the plant to ensure that the scheduled products are produced safely, meet our quality standards, and are in sufficient quantity to meet the day’s production plan. You will also coordinate, collaborate, and oversee (both directly and “soft line”) with all departments in the plant in order to be successful each and every day.
Your duties will include supervising and directing plant personnel responsible for every stage of production to ensure manufacture of high quality and cost-effective product. Success is defined by the plant’s stoplight chart of Key Performance Indicators.

Responsibilities
Here’s more of what you’ll get to do:
- Aggressively champion Safety Culture. Monitor the manufacturing team to ensure operations are in compliance with health and safety standards.
- Ensure that all products are manufactured in a correct, cost effective, and timely manner that is in alignment with specifications and quality requirements.
- Oversee the planning, organization, quality, and production process to ensure availability and use of necessary material, equipment, and labor resources daily.
- Continually assess and identify manufacturing performance gaps.
- Ensure that processes, policies, and SOP’s are being complied with.
- Ensure that all hourly team members are trained and certified for the position they are assigned.
- Coach and provide frequent feedback to managers, supervisors, and team members on the correct manner to produce product.
- Ensure all materials, processes, people, and schedules are in place for each day of production.
- Proactively address and provide corrective action in alignment with Human Resources.
- Perform quality controls and monitor production KPI’s.
- Coordinate with other department heads such as the QA manager and Shipping manager to ensure finished products are of the best quality.
- Design and implement plans for the effective use of material and labor resources to achieve manufacturing targets.
- Supervise the operations of manufacturing personnel to ensure the manufacturing process is within budget and timely scheduled.
- Oversee the hiring, orienting, and training of technical production employees to ensure a competent, motivated, engaged and happy workforce.
- Oversee the regulation of work shift to ensure proper workload distribution.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance manager to ensure that proper preventative maintenance is completed per schedule for all production equipment and machines to ensure efficient operations.
- Analyze and provide solutions to manufacturing challenges or problems.
- Conduct assessments to identify mechanical and procedural limitations that minimize work efficiency.
- Monitor and control the production process to adjust operations in event of a problem.
- Maintain a fair and professional work environment that focuses on the business objectives, but also balances quality of work-life factors for team members.
Qualifications
What we require:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Manufacturing company as a mid to senior level manager.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Positive and collaborative approach to driving execution. You are able to engage and motivate all levels of team member.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Windows, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Ability to take information from multiple sources and create ongoing performance-based training solutions.
- Knowledge of HACCP, SQF, FDA, and other Food Safety guidelines.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
What we prefer:
- Food manufacturing experience with a high emphasis on baked, refrigerated goods.
- Knowledge and experience with the Baldrige Manufacturing Excellence model.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
