Salary Range: $114,000 to $140,000 per year
- The Project Manager position is expected to provide leadership and management of mid-size to large projects which can range from $50K to $50MM or more. This role will be a key leader from project inception through funding and execution and will collaborate through all project phases with cross-functional teams at the facility and/or the corporate office such as safety, operations, finance, food safety and quality assurance including technical services, maintenance, engineering, and environmental services. This is especially important to determine project scope and process details while organizing the appropriate resources and managing the design effort. This role will lead or support the bidding process to select contractors and equipment vendors which will provide the best value and quality with the demonstrated ability to deliver on schedule and on budget. The Project Manager will generate and select specifications, coordinate procurement activities, and make fact-based decisions during execution to achieve the project deliverables regarding production throughput, product quality/specification adherence, functionality, budget control and schedule. A high degree of creativity, strategic thinking and problem solving with a mindset of continuous learning and improvement is expected.
- Develop project scopes based on a clear understanding of established KPIs through the capital process and project implementation. Manage and directs multiple assigned projects. Develop preliminary proposals for future management decisions. Assist staff in developing manufacturing process to improve efficiencies. Integrating new technology or environmentally friendly practices into existing processes. Direct, train and manage lower level process Engineers and Project designers in poultry manufacturing projects.
- Implementing process designs. Develop equipment/facilities layouts for ongoing capital project needs. Provide and or collaborate with designers on detailed equipment designs for capital projects. Develop designs to meet all building codes, safety, and OSHA standards. Provide clear and accurate designs for bidding, fabrication, and construction purposes.
- Prepare specifications for the purchase of equipment and materials. Identify opportunities working with equipment manufacturers, operations, marketing and sourcing. Develop with designer’s equipment layouts and product management data to collaborate with stakeholders.. Create and provide reports, maintain files and records related to projects. Attend meetings as required.
- Assisting accounting staff in completing capital project IRR using established and revised Key Process Indicators.
- Insure that safety is integral to all project designs.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent Project Management experience in Food Manufacturing Operations, Maintenance, or FSQA.
- 5-10 years of engineering project management experience with 3-7 in poultry plant equipment project installations preferred.
- Capable of working on multi-faceted projects of any magnitude in a leadership role; demonstrated ability to manage complex projects on time and on budget while achieving company objectives; knowledge and expertise with a variety of mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, and process engineering discipline concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Proficient in AutoCAD or equivalent program and have the ability to learn and adapt to new engineering software.
- Strong developed knowledge of OSHA, and USDA requirements.
- Sound knowledge of system controls and sensors for manufacturing processes.
- Strong background and knowledge of the construction trades and project management
- Sound methodical problem solving skills, judgment and excellent decision making abilities.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with varying levels of management and team leads, both written and verbal.
- Ability to professionally and diplomatically communicate concerns, issue and potential pitfalls of projects being worked on or considered.
- Ability to travel within and out of state as necessary.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and execute tasks in a changing and demanding work environment.
