Definition:
The Senior Sales Manager is responsible for selling group convention business. The senior title recognizes experience and contribution over time of the sales individual. The position is accountable for proactively soliciting and handling overnight group opportunities with significant revenue potential. This individual works to develop, build and maintain long-term, value-based group customer relationships in order to achieve personal and team related revenue goals. According to hotel need, the Senior Sales Manager is assigned a sales territory (which can be vertical or geographical) along with assigned key accounts. An important part role is to ensure business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for proper service delivery. A key responsibility is to drive customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience and to provide service to our customers in order to grow the account on behalf of Horseshoe Bay Resort.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4+ years’ experience in the hotel sales.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle report for insurance purposes.
- Ability to access, input and retrieve information from the computer, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Comprehend reading materials, speak, read, and write English.
- Professional demeanor with superb communication skills; including verbal, telephone, and email. Proper phone etiquette is necessary. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, and confidentiality always.
- Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking skills, and ability to follow-up on all details.
- Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
- Strong knowledge of food, wine, and spirits.
- Must have neat and pleasant overall appearance.
- Maintain proper associate professional dress standards and adhering to standard dress code.
General Duties:
- Responds in a timely manner to incoming group/catering business opportunities.
- Ensures that all business is booked within hotel parameters.
- Conducts hotel site inspections and client presentations.
- Create contracts and other related booking documentation as required. Manage and maintain client account files.
- Prospect for new business – participate in sales blitzes, cold calling and contacting former clients to solicit new business and attends industry events/programs as needed.
- Works collaboratively with off-property sales channels (HelmsBriscoe/Conference Direct, DMI, Crescent Global Sales) to ensure sales efforts are coordinated, complementary and not duplicative.
- Targets group accounts, markets or segments with heavy emphasis on proactive solicitation and account saturation.
- Strives to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals by closing the best opportunities for the hotel based on market conditions and hotel needs.
- Uses negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.
- Builds and maintains strong client relationships.
- Works collaboratively with Horseshoe Bay Resort Revenue Management, Convention Services, Food and Beverage and other hotel counterparts to drive revenue, ensure customer satisfaction and increase market share.
- Use negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.
- Provides accurate, complete and effective turnover to Sales Coordinator to then turnover to Event Management.
- Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality, service levels and handling the complaint appropriately.
- Develops and implements an effective sales plan. Executes designated sales strategies to develop and solicit specific accounts to achieve revenue goals.

Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Can communicate well with guests. Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player. Knowledge of a hotel structure and how all departments interact. Ability to effectively communicate with customers in a friendly and positive manner, in order to solicit business, meet client needs and resolve complaints. Ability to move throughout the hotel to conduct site inspections.
