Main Purpose of the Role

  • The purpose of the Sr Scientist, Real-world Evidence (RWE) position is to successfully design and disseminate Real-world Evidence (RWE) projects, strategies, and tactics to generate value propositions for nutrition products and nutrition processes/practices as well as answer key research questions for healthcare decision makers in the US and globally

  • The Sr Scientist, Real-world Evidence (RWE) will work to ensure high quality studies and initiatives, with results to be clearly and effectively communicated to different internal and external stakeholder groups. The Sr Scientist, Real-world Evidence (RWE) will develop and execute on tactics related to the collection, analysis, and presentation/publication of real-world data (RWD) to inform relevant stakeholders. This position will hold cross-functional responsibilities and will interface with Abbott Nutrition local, regional, and global commercial, medical affairs, R&D, digital innovation, government affairs, public affairs, and external partners such as hospital systems, healthcare providers, data vendors, etc.

What You’ll Work On

  • Lead or support development of RWE studies and initiatives demonstrating value of Abbott Nutrition products
  • Serve as subject matter expert for RWE generation, and as methodology expert /consultant on RWE projects initiated by other R&D teams
  • Perform statistical analysis (with little supervision) to support development of RWE value messaging, dissemination strategies based on basic understanding of health care providers, business/practice managers, payers, and their decision-making systems.
  • Conduct feasibility assessment of relevant internal and external data sources for unmet RWE needs.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop new RWE plans /strategies and advise on best practices.
  • Ensure timely and quality RWE deliverables (publications, dossiers, sales and education tools, etc.) that support development of strong value propositions for Abbott Nutrition products.
  • Communicates with HEOR-RWE management and other departments necessary in order to facilitate achievement of high-quality study results and assess objectives.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with international nutrition interest groups with special focus on RWE.
  • Determine potential use of RWE data in support of clinical development / clinical operation programs, policy and practice guidelines.
  • Develop and present (with support) RWE tools and trainings, performance metrics for RWE projects.
  • Represent RWE on cross-functional or cross-divisional collaborations and working groups for Abbott Nutrition products.
  • Utilize strong communications skills (oral and written) and understanding of Abbott Nutrition strategies to promote and translate RWD methods and activities across the company.
  • Participates and/or manages projects with outside vendors ensuring project timelines and goals are met.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU’LL BRING

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of RWE experience in Life science Company

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree (MA/MPH/MS) or PhD - Epidemiology, Health Services Research, Health Policy, Public Health, Nutrition Science, or related field

Experience/Background

  • 3+ years of experience designing and executing real-world evidence or observational projects within the life sciences industry or relevant academic, government, or consulting environment
  • Experience with analysis of real-world healthcare or nutrition data preferred
  • Working knowledge of relevant regulatory agency guidance and position papers on RWE
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute observational / RWE research
  • Strong interpersonal communication and study management skills
  • Ability to take detailed observational / RWE study results and communicate them in a clear, non-technical manner to internal cross-functional teams
  • Experience working and balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
