The Enabling Technology Department (N411), part of the Collection and Tasking Division within the MITRE Intelligence Center, applies broad Defense, Intelligence, and Federal Law Enforcement expertise, and a deep understanding of operational tradecraft as well as our sponsors' intelligence collection challenges, to develop and advance innovative human and technical solutions which enable present and future multi-int collection management from tactical to enterprise levels, and to shape and grow the future MITRE intelligence workforce through intentional talent development. Whether enabling technology for customer- or discipline-specific systems, better integration of National and theater collection, fully orchestrated all-discipline, all-domain collection, or enabling career excellence for intelligence professionals, we are ready to engage with the complex intelligence collection challenges facing our nation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, conduct and/or contribute to the design, manufacture, installation, test and evaluation, and/or maintenance of a wide range of RF systems (e.g. antennas, receivers, signal processing systems) and related electrical and control systems and devices.
  • Plan, conduct and/or contribute to related RF research and development efforts supporting a classified sponsor across multiple associated tasks.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with government, other government contractors, and MITRE staff to develop effective technical solutions to advanced and challenging problems in the RF domain.
  • Deliver technical advice and guidance on Sponsor RF communications systems to deliver high-impact research and development solutions in support of classified DoD and IC missions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph clearance and willingness to work full-time onsite in secure government workspaces
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline with minimum of 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Recent experience applying RF engineering principles to conduct system performance analysis focused on communication components operating in multiple segments of the electromagnetic spectrum.
  • Recent experience analyzing signal processing and communications signal constraints.
  • Recent experience performing link budget analyses, trade space analysis, and related technical analytic techniques to support communications systems development and integration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering discipline with minimum of 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience. Candidates with a Doctoral degree who can immediately contribute will be considered regardless of work experience.
  • 8 or more years of RF engineering experience, including any of the following:
    • Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology, to include design and implementation;
    • SNR, interference, and/or error budget analysis;
    • intersystem and/or intrasystem signal processing analysis;
    • RF spectrum engineering;
    • RF systems planning, engineering, testing and measurement;
    • RF systems prototyping.
  • Familiarity with geolocation algorithms and/or geolocation/direction finding systems.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g. Python, C, Java, Perl) supporting technical analysis and control.
  • Broad knowledge of DoD and intelligence community organizations, missions, operations, and processes.
  • Recent experience/domain expertise working and collaborating closely with DoD and IC customers.
  • Skills and commitment to building, contributing to, and sustaining high-performance teams, achieving team goals, growing trust, and collaboration.
  • Must be a self-starter with creative thinking and problem-solving capabilities, able to function within an ambiguous and dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective in interacting with technical staff, analysts, and operators ranging from junior-level contributors to the most senior leaders in the government.
