LANEY & LU is on the search for individuals looking to join Team LU as a Soul Server in both our Exeter & Portsmouth, NH locations.

As a Soul Server for LANEY & LU, you will provide friendly, responsive service to create an extraordinary customer experience by making genuine connection with our guests, discussing our menu and making recommendations when appropriate, taking their orders and processing payments, and serving food and/or beverages to our guests at the counter or table. Soul Servers also perform other duties in the areas of food and beverage preparation including but not limited to blending smoothies, crafting coffee beverages, and making salads, wraps, and sandwiches.

In addition, you will be expected to:

• Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Laney & Lu Café
• Receive orders and process guest payments
• Prepare and/or serve hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, teas, etc.
• Communicate and cooperate with other team members for preparation of orders
• Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, or equipment
• Describe menu items to guest or suggest products that might appeal to them
• Clean service and/or seating areas
• Serve prepared foods, such as muffins, donuts, or protein bars
• Prepare or serve menu items, such as smoothies/bowls, wraps or salads
• Set up or restock product displays
• Stock guest service stations with paper products or beverage preparation items
• Wrap, label, or date food items for sale
• Provide guest with product details, such as ingredients and preparation descriptions
• Take out garbage, linens, compost and recycling
• Receive or stock supplies or retail products
• Follow, complete, and verify work checklists
• Prepare items for food service; slice, chop, shred, soak, dice, etc.
• Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning
• Attend all scheduled team meetings
• Offers suggestions for continuous improvement of employee and guest experience
• Coordinate with team employees to meet customer needs and support the operation of the café
• Fill-in for team members where needed to ensure customer service standards and efficient operations.
• Ensure coverage of all assigned shifts

REQUIREMENTS

• Alignment with Laney & Lu Honor Code and passion for Core Values
• Strong communication skills that engage people in a genuine, authentic way
• Highly organized, able to multi-task, and easily adapts and respond to change
• Able to understand and speak using the predominant language(s) of guests
• Excellent basic mathematical skills
• Able to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system
• Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours)
• Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
• Stamina and availability to work up to 40-50 hours per week, for full-time employees
