LGT Transport is a mid sized trucking company near I-80 and Hwy 50. Just behind Omaha Truck Center, right off the interstate, we are home to over 200 drivers and 75 office personnel who actually enjoy going to work every day. I won't lie to you - we are a fast paced and rapidly growing environment. But that's what makes life interesting and challenging.

With that being said, we are looking for a payroll/settlements accountant to join our accounting team. In this position, you will be responsible for the preparation and review of weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly settlements and payroll. You will prepare and oversee a complex settlement/payroll process for over 200 tractor trailer drivers paid hourly and/or by the mile.

Your position reports to the Senior Accountant who just so happens to be a super nice person. Specific tasks include

• Reconcile various financial statement accounts and roll forward deduction information based on this reconciliation.
• Download fuel from Tchek and import into our settlement software. Reconcile the fuel deducted in the bank against the fuel imported into settlements.
• Calculate various items such as minimum mileage, daily guarantees, escrow interest, safety bonus, and quarterly bonuses.
• Take calls and respond to our amazing driver inquiries regarding settlement data, and make corrections as needed.
• Review weekly driver payroll and biweekly office payroll prepared by the payroll clerk.
• Review of tax deposits submitted by the payroll clerk.
• Review of monthly and quarter payroll tax returns prepared by the payroll clerk.
• Set up of new state filings as required.

The person we are looking for should have the following credentials:

• Bachelor of Science/Arts in Accounting
• 2-3 years previous accounting experience
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft office products such as excel and access.
• Previous experience with Sage a plus
