PHOENIX LITHOGRAPHING CORPORATION, a commercial printing and direct mail company, is seeking highly qualified sheetfed press operators at its northeast Philadelphia facilities. These are full-time positions available on both day and night shifts.

Job is located in northeast Philadelphia, PA, with easy access from the PA Turnpike and I-95.

SHEETFED PRESS OPERATOR – Full-Time

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Operate sheetfed printing press to print quality production, maintain quality of product, maintain press, and work on other operation duties as directed by the supervisors.
• Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain multi-color sheetfed offset presses.
• Review job specifications to determine the press setup according to the imposition of the run.
• Ensure that all make-ready tasks are done which are associated with the press such as hanging plates, examining plates/cylinders for imperfections and checking for correct positioning of images, prepping blankets, adjusting tension and register etc.
• Make necessary color corrections and/or press adjustments prior to production run to meet and maintain the quality specifications of the work.
• Ensure that the press is clean, lubricated, and maintained, making minor repairs and replacing worn or broken parts as required. Perform periodic maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer. Notify supervisor and the maintenance department of issues with the equipment.
• Maintain a safe and injury free work environment.
• Responsible for all aspects of the operation of the press.
• Responsible for overall quality of the printed product including color reproduction, product specifications, imaging quality and postal specifications.
• Provide accurate documentation of time, materials, impressions, waste, and run speeds.
• Communicate information effectively with managers and with other crews and departments, scheduling, prepress, maintenance.
• Must be able to work full time shift, with some overtime as needed.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

• openings for first and second press operators
• minimum 5 years sheetfed press printing experience.
• Requires comprehensive knowledge of equipment and safety requirements to set-up, adjust, operate, and maintain equipment.
• Experience on the Heidelberg XL a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Continuous standing/walking - 8 hours or more.
• Occasional bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching.
• Occasional lifting and pushing/pulling - 50 lbs. or less.
• Occasional repetitive motion with both hands.
• Cannot be colorblind.
