The Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, will lead a crew of 12 -14 operators as a front-line shift supervisor. The Operations Shift Supervisor has strong operations knowledge and is well versed in all aspects of the Refinery operations in order to meet safety, environmental, business, housekeeping, quality, quantity, cost and performance standards. As part of your specific responsibilities, in the following areas, the shift supervisor:
- Leads efforts to improve process units’ optimization, achieve performance targets and promote long-term plant viability and reliability.
- Works with the operations management to develop refinery specific objectives aligning with refinery’s targets for safety, regulatory compliance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Troubleshoots problems throughout the refinery processes.
- Assists in the training of operations personnel to ensure safety throughout the workforce.
- Assists in the recertification of operating and safety procedures to ensure compliance when applicable.
- Possess strong leadership skills in order to lead employees and resolve conflicts.
- Manages personnel assigned during Turnarounds or daily tasks.
- Help with the creation and implementation of new policies and procedures as needed.
- Ensures refinery environmental compliance by following applicable procedures and policies.
- Supervises all personnel and operations in their operating area to always ensure safe and environmentally responsible operations.
- Takes action to resolve any process and equipment problems.
- Mentors and guides operators in the performance of their duties on a short and long-term basis.
- Organizes work to meet the crew’s shift goals, daily assigned tasks, certifications, re-certification of operators.
- Ensures that established policies, rules and procedures are followed.
- Is responsible for the quality and efficiency of operations and the standard of housekeeping in the operating areas.
- Will perform other duties as assigned.
The Requirements
To meet the basic qualification for this role, you must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To be a good fit for the Shift Supervisor opportunity, you will have:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering preferred.- 5+ years refining operations experience.
- Shiftbreaker experience with training to cover as a shift supervisor required.
- Working knowledge of FCC, BenzOut, SWAATS Complex, Alky, Crude, HDS, Reformer and NHT
- Strong working knowledge of all operations unit processes and procedures
- Knowledge and or experience working with loading dock equipment and tank farm layouts.
- Understanding of lab procedures and product testing specifications
- Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
- Requires organization and communication skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines and production requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word
- Fluent in English, both oral and written required.
