Shipping Team Lead
Location: TN Plant

Report to: Supervisor, Shipping & Materials
FLSA Status: Full-Time/Non-Exempt

Job Summary
The Shipping Team Lead is responsible for the efficient safe operation of machines, work environment, employee morale and meeting all KPI goals of the Shipping department
Responsibilities
- Prepare daily shipping schedule and layout daily production runs, optimizing labor and CPU objectives by adjusting to production demands
- Assist with updating CIA Board
- Ensure the team’s productivity by holding daily, weekly, and monthly meetings to support, inform and incentivize the team
- Initiate and lead projects using tools such as Kaizen and PDCA to improve department
- Answer all employees, C/S, Materials and Production inquiries and resolve problems to the best of own ability
- Ability to receive inquiries and assist in the resolution of issues for team members, internal and external customers
- Ensure established work techniques (standard work instructions) are in place and performed daily by team members.
- Maintain accurate/up to date data in KPI production report and department spreadsheets.
- Ability to create/author standardized work instructions.
- Ability to understand, utilize and train others on the internal production system (Navision)
- Ensure proper application of personnel to cover absences and changes in production demands
- Assist in the evaluation of SBP employees for their six-month and yearly evaluations
- Conduct daily team meetings using visual aids and KPI performance statistics to assist in team development and their understanding of team goals
- Ensure that all certificates of training in the Skill Based Pay compensation program are completed as required for each applicable employee
- Strong attention to detail; ability to avoid a crisis or always steer the team through a crisis with a positive and motivating attitude
- Regular and reliable attendance is a must
- Promote engagement of entire team in company and community events
- Be fully engaged in the Continuous Improvement programs. Must be able to implement and sustain these authorized improvements
- Ability to direct and motivate team in a high volume, fast paced, hot/cold work environment. The ability to think on your feet and make quick, safe, and efficient decisions. Ensure flawless execution of daily tasks
- Attend meetings and training as directed
- Recommend internal and external training for all members of team as needed
- Fill out daily bill of ladings per carrier when shipping clerk is out
- Prepare paperwork for common-carrier trucks, calculate rate, and post orders
- Prepare trucks and calculate the costs of transportation for all Bath Fitter trucks and common-carrier trucks
- Audit all documents, charges, trucking quotes, bill of ladings, etc
- Prepare and distribute all necessary documents (Bill of Ladings, Packing Slips) to all drivers when shipping clerk is out
- Contact transport companies for pick-up and inbound deliveries as needed.
- Knowledge with custom paperwork

- Serves as back up to Shipping Clerk as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience–must have a High School Diploma two years of higher education in a related field, or equivalent experience
- Ability to maintain open, direct, positive, and objective lines of communication with management.
- Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written/email) to interact with clients, plant, and retail level
- Strong Customer Service skills: ability to communicate in a professional, knowledgeable, and courteous manner with employees, etc
- Experience with developing/documenting/procedures
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to listen effectively and actively
- Ability to develop believability, credibility, and trust with the team
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong management skills. Preferred (5) years’ experience in management
