Social Media Engagement Coordinator Job at Oberlin

The Office of Communications at Oberlin College and Conservatory seeks candidates with a deep understanding of social media and interest in community engagement for a one-year fellowship in the Office of Communications. Reporting to the Social Media Strategist and working closely with members of the Content Team, the Social Media Engagement Coordinator is offered as a 12-month, administrative and professional staff appointment with an anticipated start date in early June 2023.

Responsibilities
The Social Media Engagement Coordinator will play an active role in social listening, initiate conversation across platforms, establish a unified voice for engaging with audiences on Oberlin’s institutional social media accounts, build rapport with social communities and use sound judgment when responding to questions, and become knowledgeable of best practices and emerging trends.

Essential Job Functions
  • Working closely with the Social Media Strategist, develop an action plan for social engagement.
  • Moderate social conversations, respond to questions, and provide feedback on social posts. Report instances of inappropriate posting as necessary.
  • Contribute ideas to the Content Team.
  • Work collaboratively with campus social media partners.
  • Share social admininstrator responsibilities outside of normal business hours.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Applicants should be a recent college graduate; preference for graduates from Oberlin College and Conservatory in May 2023 or a recent Oberlin graduate
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of Oberlin stakeholders: alumni, parents and families, prospective students, campus community
  • Demonstrated interest in social media, with preference to experience in a professional setting
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with social media content creation
  • Interest in social media marketing, promotional communications, and/or policy making
  • Customer service-oriented approach to social interactions.


Compensation
Within the range established for this position, salary will be
commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes an
excellent benefits package.
