Primary Purpose:
Provide direct and indirect services to students, families and school personnel to promote and support students’ academic and social success. This
position is expected to build upon students’ individual strengths and provide training and educational programs to enhance their learning. The Social
Worker serves as a link between the home, school and community; employs therapeutic interventions with individuals, families and groups, as well as
provide crisis counseling and case management services.
This position is an ESSER position. This position will provide critical support to prevent, prepare for, or respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, including
its impact on the social, emotional, mental health and academic needs of students. Funds for this position are expected to be available for a limited
time. In addition to other specified conditions of employment, the applicant understands that no guarantee of continued employment, beyond the

Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification):
Master’s degree from a program accredited by the Council of Social Work Education. Valid Texas Social Work License.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides direct services to students and their families that enhance support of students’ learning experiences.
2. Conduct strengths-based assessments of students and families with the goal of improving student social, emotional, behavioral and
academic outcomes.
3. Facilitate communication between the school, student, community and family to encourage positive working relationships to help meet the
needs of individual students to be successful in school.
4. Utilize case management skills in connecting students to outside service providers as appropriate, including but not limited to: mental health
services, academic support, summer learning program activities, community-based organizations, food and housing.
5. Demonstrate the use of evidence informed practices in interventions used with students, families and staff.
6. Provide consultation to school personnel, parents/guardians and community partners for the purpose of enhancing understanding of student
needs, developing effective interventions, and building school capacity.
7. Develop and provide training and educational programming that address the goals and mission of the district in regards to social, emotional,
behavioral and mental health aspects.
8. Implement and/or create appropriate prevention programming to facilitate in school or out of school to support students and families.
9. Serve as a member of the district crisis team, as needed, in collaboration with other school social workers, school counselors, LSSPs and
school nurses; provide follow up crisis counseling and referrals, as necessary.
10. Maintain accurate, complete and punctual records, as well as safeguard the privacy and confidentiality of information as required by law,
District policy and licensing requirements.
11. Demonstrate a commitment to the values and ethics of the NASW Code of Ethics.
12. Follow Educator Code of Conduct and all policies, procedures, laws and State/Federal regulations.
13. Meet the minimum professional development requirements as set forth by the licensing board.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Skills in effective psychosocial assessment, diagnostic measures and intervention plans.
- Skill in effectively managing student behavior.
- Knowledge of DSM-5 Diagnostic Criteria.
- Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines and procedures.
- Knowledge of human growth and development, interviewing, individual, family, and group counseling, and consultation skills.
- Skill in communicating effectively with others.
- Computer proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Skill in working in collaborative team-based environments.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Demands):
Maintain emotional control under stress; must be able to lift and/or carry at least 30 lbs independently and over 30 lbs with assistance.
