Job Description
The Washington Post is hiring a Software Engineer for our Ad Engineering team. In this role, you will work on developing new and innovative ad products and applications that drive revenue for The Washington Post. Our Ad Engineering team is deeply interested in changing the fundamentals of advertising technology by building performant and competitive tools and products.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop new applications and features using React and Node
  • Build interactive experiences for the web including premium, highly performant ad formats
  • Active participation on a scrum team including story grooming, planning work backlog, work estimation, sprint planning, retros, demos, etc.
  • Work with a wide variety of engineering teams, design, product and newsroom stakeholders to support and build internal and public-facing products and applications.

  • You are energized by problem-solving and love to ideate solutions to difficult problems.

Requirements:
  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a software engineer using modern development languages: React, Node, JavaScript, Typescript, CSS and HTML
  • Experience building applications with React
  • Experience with common front-end development tools such as Webpack, Rollup, NPM, etc.
  • Experiencing writing tests using frameworks such as Jest, Cypress and Nightwatch
  • Experience with Git

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with Amazon Web Services serverless functions
  • Experience in advertising technology
