POSITION SUMMARY
DAE HAIR is seeking a highly motivated, passionate, and conceptual Designer to join our in-house creative team. We are looking for a candidate with experience designing dynamic, on-brand creative assets, visual merchandising, print collateral, and social/digital advertising. The ideal candidate must maintain a strong understanding of design for print, digital, and emerging media formats, and must have strong design aesthetic and typography skills with a passion for customer experience and brand storytelling.
This position reports to the VP of Brand and is responsible for planning, managing and delivering strategic global brand creative from initial development to final execution and release. The role is responsible for creating and developing innovative and refined creative assets that deliver the entire brand experience.
The ideal candidate must be highly organized and be a strong creative problem solver. The Designer will partner with and assist other designers and outside creative agencies. The ideal candidate must be an organized, creative, and strategic thinker who has the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and produce comprehensive, on-brand layouts and graphics for new product and seasonal launches, including special projects- Demonstrate solid understanding of typography, photography, layout, graphic design and digital design; ensures all assets adhere to brand standards & meet business objectives
- Collaborate with teams on business-wide initiatives and product launches
- Provide budget recommendations & updates as well as key insights to leadership
- Collaborate with internal & external creative teams to help produce performance-driven content and assets
- Ensure designs and content reflect consistently and positively the brand image and DNA
- Manage all asset planning + execution across all channels
- Source production companies to assist in Booth Experiences (Sephoria, Sephora Store Directors' Conference, etc.)
- Responsible for the quality and execution of all projects assigned to the creative team
- Manage outside agencies & production teams; execute or oversee production tasks and project deliverables, ensuring clarity of direction and consistent use of creative across all channels
- Show knowledge of newest design, typography, illustration, fashion/beauty and culture
- Assist in the direction, execution and organization of photo and video shoots, designing assets, and coordinate final assets to be shared across the company or with vendors
- Oversee proper digital file types and naming conventions
- Demonstrate solid grasp of brand aesthetic, design sensibility, and high taste level
- Must be able to independently and collaboratively navigate the creative process, negotiating successfully with teams / founder, while being communicative, proactive, resourceful, professional, and flexible
- Maintain collaborative partnerships with teams including Brand Marketing, Digital, Sales, Education , Ops, PD
- Execute or oversee all packaging design, development and output to production - ensure all copy is accurate and aligned with marketing, regulatory, and translation
- Meet fast deadlines under pressure and ambiguity with the highest quality of standards
- Anticipate problems that may impede a project from completing on time and implement solutions
- Ability to positively receive feedback or edits from peers and executives, reflect changes in work throughout revision process
- Be client-centric, thinking about how consumer shops on digital vs in store, and aware of the importance of a strong digital and in store presence.
REQUIREMENTS
5+ years of design experience in digital, print, packaging and in store design- Bachelor’s Degree or BFA. Graphic Design (or related: Communications Design, or UX/UI) degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Experience with Retail/e-Commerce, Fashion, and Beauty.
- Ideally proficient in one or more of the following: E-Commerce web design, UX/UI, paid social, emails, and/or responsive design for web (mobile and desktop).
- Knowledge of how to develop brand identity and build brand equity through multi-channel marketing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Talent in presenting information concisely and accurately, with keen attention to detail
- Professional business skills, such as negotiation, project management, and leadership
- Can articulate creative ideas, either verbally, by example, or renderings.
- Strong problem-solving skills with focus on developing and recommending solutions quickly in a calm and clear manner
- Must possess excellent typography and design skills
- Must be able to work autonomously and remain flexible to changing priorities
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and have a collaborative approach to creative development
- Time management, organization skills, file management and excellent attention to detail and consistency
- Ability to work in a very fast paced environment and meet very tight deadlines
- Knowledge of Adobe’s Creative Suite; with a comfortable and proficient knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop.
- XD, AfterEffects, Adobe premiere, Illustrator, Bridge, and the remainder of Suite is encouraged.
- Ideally has understanding of web standards, grid system and responsive design as well as print mechanicals.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to maintain a positive and open attitude while making multiple rounds of revisions to projects
- Ideal candidate is scrappy, entrepreneurial, self-motivated, with a drive to succeed; can wear many hats, collaborate with teams in a fast paced environment
