Are you interested in shaping rail initiatives to be facilitators for economic development? If so, you should explore our team which supports rail and transit clients which influence the transformation of tomorrow.

By joining our team as a Senior Program Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading teams in the implementation of freight rail, passenger rail and transit programs. Specifically, we’ll ask you to lead and manage rail initiatives involving design and implementation of freight rail projects including Class 1 and Short Line railroad projects, industrial sidings, commuter rail, intercity passenger and higher speed rail and DOT sponsored projects involving railroads. Also, you’ll administer contracts, meet client requirements, regulatory agency criteria and company commitments especially for transit projects including light rail and streetcars.

You’ll showcase your skills in rapport management by serving as the client’s representative providing oversight guidance and/or direction for the program teams including subconsultants and subcontractors. We’ll provide you the opportunity to grow your business acumen when you lead business development activities by presenting the company’s capabilities, establishing client relationships and procuring work.

We’ll look to you to manage/supervise local rail staff members including utilization, evaluation and hiring of new staff as well as be responsible directly as well as thru staff for the quality of the services performed, client satisfaction, utilization of staff, marketing, reputation of the company in the marketplace, contract management and delivery.

You will coordinate work share with other Jacobs projects and build relationships with Jacobs staff to determine unique technical skills that can be delivered to clients. In particularly you’ll coordinate with the Jacobs’ Global Technology Leader Transit and Rail, Track and Civil Engineering and other related Subject Matter Experts on global opportunities, staffing needs, and business development activities.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Engineering degree
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License (VA/MD/PA preferred).
  • Professional experience as a Project or Program Manager with rail and transit projects.
  • Experience in rail and rail systems design or design oversight
  • Knowledge and experience in procurement and alternative delivery approaches
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing and managing large teams of individuals and subcontractor
  • Experience with managing rail and transit engineering and/or planning programs and projects.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Federal and State transportation regulations and programs including FRA, FTA, and FHWA.
  • Demonstrated skills in engineering knowledge, leadership, planning, teamwork, decision making, judgement and problem solving.
  • Direct experience with Amtrak, CSX, Norfolk Southern and/or DOT level rail project delivery
