Located in Cypress and a Distribution Center in Buena Park, California, Manhattan Beachwear, LLC. is a leading designer and manufacturer of women's swimwear, and it's a trusted licensed partner and developer for industry leading La Blanca, 24th & Ocean, Maxine, Hobie, and Trina Turk brands, as well as private label merchandise for department stores.

The incumbent in this role directs activities of inventory costing, product manufacturing analysis, prepaids, fixed assets, cash and other accounts as assigned. The position provides recommendations to senior management in support of the achievement of Company goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages and maintains inventory sub-ledger and standard cost for all finished goods.
  • Work with other departments from across the company to understand and evaluate direct costs associated with new products to help establishes detailed cost and contribution margin for each finished good.
  • Manage quality of cost data, and evaluate other costs such as: purchase price variance, distribution supplies, freight, and customs and duties.
  • Reconcile and inquire cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing data.
  • Ensures the inventory on the balance sheet is properly valued at each closing period.
  • Compare PO and Invoice price, follow up on unusual variances.
  • Manages month-end close and reconciliation process for inventory, prepaids, fixed assets, and cash activity including bank reconciliations.
  • Prepares monthly journal entries for assigned accounts.
  • Analyze inventory valuation and recommend write off or adjustments to inventory.
  • Maintain and reconcile monthly fixed assets and prepaid schedules.
  • Prepares daily cash report and reconciles daily cash postings.
  • Sales and Use tax filings and reporting
  • File sales and use tax for various states
  • Monitor implement filing for states that have triggered nexus threshold
  • Review inventory aging and mange inventory reserve.
  • Track and record reserve consumption on a monthly basis.
  • In Q3 and Q4 work with other members of the Company (CFO and Sales) to determine lower of cost to market and calculate appropriate reserve and drive toward an end-game strategy for the season’s inventory.
  • Review, investigate, and resolve accounting errors, discrepancies, and reconciling items.
  • Consistently monitor, recommend and implement improvements to current methodologies and practices within the finance department.
  • Assists with developing policies, procedures, and standards for accounting activities.
  • Assists auditors by providing supporting documentation and preparing necessary schedules
  • Assists accounting team and other members of the organization by fulfilling additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Experience with e-commerce accounting and e-commerce month end reconciliation
  • Review and processing of Payroll entries and payroll accruals

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent from an accredited university.
  • 5+ years of experience, preferably in apparel or Shopify E commerce distribution environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory.
  • Exceptional computer skills (advanced Excel skills) and business writing skills.
  • Creativity, self-discipline, and ability to identify and complete critical tasks independently and with a sense of urgency
  • Highly detail oriented and organized in work.
  • Inventory management and cost accounting experience
  • Experience with MAS 500 Sage
  • Experience with Blue Cherry ERP a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk, sit for extended periods of time while working in front of computer. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
