Responsibilities:
- Define functional and performance requirements for bleeding edge connected car features that impact multiple platforms and domains
- Drive the necessary software architecture taking into account user experience, functional safety, and failure modes
- Lead cross-functional teams through failure modes and affects analysis to resolve time critical issues impacting factory throughput and scalability
- Debug functional issues relating to connectivity and telematics where the root cause could span any combination of physical, electrical, network, and software elements.
- Prioritize and escalate issues based on their impact on the user and the program.
- Responsible for maintaining and improving the overall health and stability of Rivian's connectivity and telematics features and software.
- Triage bugs and perceived issues, escalating when appropriate and driving to resolution.
- Identify opportunities for implementation, validation, and field support improvements.
- Provide authoritative networking and connectivity software representation at the factory, with service and diagnostics organizations, and with test and development teams.
- Push the limits of technology to create an exceptional user experience for our customers
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience working on embedded Linux-based devices.
- Passionate about Connectivity, Telematics, Edge processing, data analysis, and working cross functionally to solve complex problems with high customer impact
- Practical and hands-on experience of the Linux command-line.
- Working knowledge of the OSI model; expertise in L2 switching and wireless/cellular protocols is a plus.
- Practical knowledge of Python for test automation.
- Familiarity with relational databases (SQL) and data analysis
- Software development experience. Able to read/debug code, familiar with Git, Jira, and software development lifecycle.
- Excellent documentation and organization skills.
- Good communication, able to convey both detailed explanations and high-level status updates and know when each is appropriate.

Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $170,000 - $192,500 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
