SUMMARY
Performs all operations of the stranding department assuring that area meets all federal and local regulations.
Primarily monitors the rewinding process assuring safe operation and production of packs of strand that meets the
posted quality requirements. Secondarily monitors the stranding process to assist the foreman with spool changes and
wire breaks. Must be able to perform all jobs at the strander in case of the absence of a foreman. Performs daily
overhead crane check sheet prior to start of process and ensures safe operation of their crane and all equipment used
in the stranding/rewinding process
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Other duties may be assigned.
Read and understand all SOP’s related to the position and meet all Safety Training Requirements
Know and wear all PPE (personal protective equipment) properly
Know location of all emergency stops
Know and complete all daily, weekly and monthly assigned and posted 5S tasks.
Read micrometer and properly measure strand and wire diameter and calculate strand pitch.
Be able to make a strand lay direction change at the strander.

Be able to load size recipes for both the strander and the rewinder operator station
Able to install the proper guide plates on the rewinder drum for the size being produced.
Be able to zero the traverse and make the proper decisions on adjustment of the traverse and plates if needed.
Properly cut the wire off the spools at the end of a run.
Safely remove, strip and load spools using an overhead crane during strander spool changes.
Monitor the strander/rewinder machinery while in production of wire and report any problems to the shift
foreman.

Be able to repair a wire break at any location from the spool to the take up of the drawing machine.
Understand the wire layering diagram and use it for the proper layering and routing of the wire through the
strander.

Be able to figure out where to set and properly set the meter count warning function on the strander control panel.
Perform all QC tests of the strand (BS Test).
Be able to properly fill out and understand a Strand IR form
Be able to properly pull the strand off a full take up cut it and swap take ups.
Be able to properly thread the strand through all rollers on the rewinder and strander dancers.
Handle wire and strand ends safely and understand the torsion of wire and strand and how it should be dealt with
if encountered.

Education:
High School diploma or equivalent; ability to complete simple forms and understand simple written instructions.
Should have good arithmetic skills involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and decimals.
