Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Student Counselor for the School of Engineering. This position is responsible for promoting and achieving student success by providing comprehensive academic support and retention services to students and by making timely referrals to appropriate offices.

- Provides reliable and timely academic advising to undergraduates at the School of Engineering.
- Maintains student records, to support scholastic standing reviews, to interact professionally and compassionately with all undergraduate students as well as their parents/guardians.
- Establishes effective working relationships with the SoE departments and other campus partners on issues pertaining to academic policies and student advising.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Two (2) years of experience in college-level academic advising, student services or a closely related field, preferably in a large university setting.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience assessing learning outcomes, student programming, and retention and outreach efforts.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and accurate records.
- Experience working with domestic and international students with a demonstrated commitment to diversity and multiculturalism.
- A dynamic and engaging personality, excellent communication skills, and experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in a team environment are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Knowledge of the engineering curricula and the academic degree requirements.
- Working knowledge of Rutgers system-wide student information and service delivery systems including IMS, Salesforce, SSC, Degree Navigator, Canvas. Valid driver’s license and passport are required in expecting both domestic and international travel.

Immunization Requirements
Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply. Prospective employees should speak with their hiring manager to determine which policies apply to the role or position for which they are applying. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain a medical or religious exemption from the University will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
