Surgical Technologist 0900-1730 shift Full time

$15K Sign On Bonus for eligible new hires who have not worked for Baptist or one of our affiliates in the preceding 12 months.

The Surgical Technologist serves as a primary scrub person or assistant for operative procedures.

JOB DUTIES - The Surgical Technologist must assist the RN with circulating duties as needed to carry out the implementation of appropriate interventions. Primary duties include scrubbing, setting up cases, passing instruments, and assisting the physician. Works with circulator, orderlies and other room staff to perform post-case cleaning duties. The Surgical Technologist can cut suture material as directed by the surgeon and apply electrocautery to clamps on bleeders under the direct supervision of the surgeon. Trained yearly on age specific care and completes core competencies for the patient populations designated in the Scope of Service. Follows Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures. Practice is based on the theoretical framework of nursing at Baptist Health Paducah including the principles of Relationship-Based Care. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITY – Surgical Technologists must graduate from a Surgical Technologist program or have comparable military training. Certification is not required, but is preferred within first year of employment. Supervised by the department director and nurse manager. Assignments from the charge nurse and/or RN in charge of their room for that shift. Director/ nurse manager performance evaluations are conducted at the end of the three-month probationary period and annually thereafter.
