The Systems Improvement and Integration Engineer must effectively optimize and integrate different types of hardware, software, organizational procedures and database systems. Create thorough documentation for the process implemented to ensure that others can correctly interpret it. This role will involve a considerable and detailed amount of communication and work across all departments to identify and eliminate pain points for your customers. For this job, you must be passionate about bridging gaps that occur as a result of the constant development of technology. Reports to the Director of Customer Operations
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties include the following, but other duties may be assigned as required.
- Live out the United Core Values and be an example to others.
- Determine the needs of the organization to better optimize technology and improve system integration.
- Designs and implements integrated systems to meet organizational requirements.
- Ensure and determine that the outcome of the integration has met the organization s needs.
- Participates in budget planning for purchase and maintenance of hardware, software, and consulting services.
- Evaluates business procedures and problems. Documents current and proposed procedures using flow charts and reports. This may involve interviewing any employee, conducting written surveys, and worker observation. Discusses systems problems with managers and users to determine their exact nature. Performs corporate needs-analysis.
- Develops conceptual designs and/or feasibility studies for proposed computer-based systems that satisfy the identified user needs.
- Assists in the development of programming and testing standards.
- Defines the goals of the system and divides the solutions into individual steps and separate procedures using techniques such as structured analysis and system development life cycle.
- Specifies inputs to be accessed by the system, designs the processing steps, and formats the outputs to meet users' needs.
- Prepares cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses to help management decide the financial feasibility of implementing the proposed technology.
- Determines what computer hardware and software will be needed to set the system up.
- Coordinates tests and observes the initial use of the systems to ensure they perform as planned.
- Tests, maintains, and monitors computer programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of computer programs and systems.
- Educate the organization about the system integration, its implementation, and its use.
- Create and provide technical documentation that explains upcoming or existing integrations to non-technical individuals.
- Prepares specifications, flow charts, and process diagrams for computer programmers to follow including testing problems and testing procedures.
- Assesses the usefulness of pre-developed application packages and adapt them to a user environment.
- Expands or modifies existing systems to serve new purposes or improve workflow.
- Consults with management to ensure agreement on system principles.
- Coordinates and plans for the integration of various corporate information systems.
- Prepares on-line and hard copy documentation of systems and user applications.
- Handle a broad range of software and other programming tasks to ensure that their systems integrations are functional.
- Research and recommend systems, equipment and technologies.
- Work with colleagues across the company, from management to administration.
- Collect and analyze data.
- Provide aftercare to internal customers or clients, such as integration support for previously installed software and program.
- Performs other responsibilities as directed by the Director of Operations.
JOB QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Experience, Training, and Licenses:
- Bachelor s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or the equivalent education or experience.
- Five years of experience working in telecommunications systems optimization and integration including programing, applications integration, IT development, API s and computer science.
- Must have knowledge in database concepts and contracting with consultants/vendors, including budgeting, with a blend of functional and technical system analysis.
- Versatile programming knowledge for different languages and hardware uses.
- A strong knowledge of how to interpret organizational, software and hardware implementation blueprints and technical documents.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and keep the organization updated on project status.
- Excellent communications skills for explaining complex implementation processes to non-experts and also to clients and organization members.
- A strong understanding of ICT system deployment and usage policies.
- A capacity for working with minimal supervision in complex projects with considerable responsibility.

SCHEDULE:
Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business.
Travel between office locations will be required.
Small percentage of out-of-town, overnight travel may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
United maintains a professional office environment. The employee must be able and willing to travel locally to reach all employees. Compliance with all Company safety procedures is a requirement.
