The Technical Project Manager I – Process Engineering, is responsible for the overall management, planning, integration and engineering of a project and insuring that technical solutions are implemented on schedule. Provides technical direction for the development and design of new process equipment for customer projects from the definition phase through implementation. Takes initiative and acts as a leader to foster collaboration and communication between team members on technical issues, on process improvements, equipment budget, equipment timing, addressing and escalating project risks and issues.
Your responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages all engineering activities of a project in accordance with the Bilstein Product Evolution Process (PEP) to ensure all milestones are met. Position responsibilities aligned with PEP “TPP” role
- Plans and monitors the projects overall progress, resolving issues and initiating correct action as appropriate.
- Defines objectives, responsibilities and work plans for the Process Engineering team and monitors their progress
- Leads all equipment vendors through the equipment development process
- Reviews status of project to ensure project timings are met and customer deliverables are achieved.
- Plans, prepares and implements regular process and project reviews including cash-out timing in the framework of the project timeline
- Maintains and ensures required project documentation is completed to support the project
- Manages risks and resolves issues that affect project scope, design, schedule and quality
- Interacts regularly with the equipment vendors to monitor progress and ensure adherence to the statement of work
- Incorporates prior “Lessons Learned” into the project to avoid any issues from previous equipment designs
- Designs process functionality and capability with respect to customer specifications
- Utilizes Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and other engineering tools to rate the project design failure modes and implement corrective action
- Coordinates with cross-functional teams to develop and analyze design proposals
- Evaluates product designs and develops a process in order to achieve all business case KPI’s on time, within budget
- Leads a team of specialized process engineers to ensure overall customer project deliverables are met
- Actively participates in continuous improvement measures
- Participates in Capex reviews in order to achieve investment optimized process solutions
- Reviews equipment vendor concepts in the sourcing phase of the project and provided technical recommendation to internal stakeholders
- Leads the approval process of all technical documents
Your profile
- Considerable experience as a Process Engineer, Product Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering, or Program Manager in an automotive engineering capacity
- Experience with coordination and presentation of technical data and information to key equipment suppliers & customers
- High level of ability to manage complex project timelines
- High level of experience with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint)
- Experience with manufacturing floor layouts and associated software (AutoCAD, etc.)
- Experience working with large ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- Strong, proven effective “hands-on” leader that garners trust and loyalty from subordinates and possesses and displays integrity and ethics that are beyond reproach. Proven ability to build strong business relationships throughout an organization
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management in the most professional and politically correct manner
- Demonstrated strong project management experience in planning, executing, and maintaining a project from start to finish
- Demonstrates a strong attention to detail with excellent organization skills with experience in and capable of working in a fast-paced business environment with tight deadlines
- Broad operating style, ability to adapt across cultures, environments and styles
- Makes decisions and commits to a course of action with appropriate information and recognizes uncertainty of success; weighs and manages risk in decision making
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Highly organized with ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance
- Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational and communication skills
- Proven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team/customers
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical preferred)
