Essential Functions and Purpose:
As a Technical Trainer, your primary function is to train individuals on the technical aspects of heavy diesel engines and their components. You will be responsible for designing and delivering training programs that cover topics such as engine repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety protocols. Additionally, you will be expected to assess the skill level of trainees, identify areas where they need improvement, and provide feedback to help them enhance their knowledge and skills.

The purpose of a Technical Trainer is to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain, and repair heavy diesel engines safely and efficiently. By providing comprehensive training programs, you help ensure that individuals working with heavy diesel equipment can do so confidently and competently, reducing the risk of accidents, minimizing downtime, and improving the lifespan of the equipment. Ultimately, your role as a trainer contributes to the safety and productivity of heavy diesel operations, which is critical for the success of industries such as construction, transportation, mining, and agriculture.

This onsite role will be based out of our office in the Rancho Cucamonga, CA with domestic travel required.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Deliver training sessions: You will be responsible for delivering training sessions to groups of technicians and or customers, either in-person or online. You will need to ensure that the training sessions are engaging, informative, and effective, and that all trainees have the opportunity to participate and ask questions
  • Assess skills: You will need to assess the skill level of trainees before and after the training sessions, using various assessment methods such as written tests, practical exercises, and observation. This will help you identify areas where trainees need improvement and provide them with feedback to help them enhance their skills
  • Maintain training equipment: You will need to ensure that all training equipment, such as engines, tools, and safety gear, is properly maintained and in good working condition. This will help ensure the safety of trainees and the effectiveness of the training sessions
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments: You will need to stay informed about the latest developments in heavy diesel technology, including new engines, components, and maintenance practices. This will help you keep your training programs up-to-date and relevant
  • Foster a culture of safety: You will need to promote a culture of safety among trainees, emphasizing the importance of following safety protocols and best practices when working with heavy diesel equipment. This will help reduce the risk of accidents and injuries in the workplace
  • Provide support to trainees: You will need to provide ongoing support and guidance to trainees, answering their questions and helping them troubleshoot problems as they arise. This will help trainees feel confident and competent when working with heavy diesel equipment
  • Ensure the VVG Culture & Values, Leadership Standards, and Purpose are embedded throughout learning & development programs
  • Actively track timelines and deliverables for multiple projects laddering up to the overall learning & development roadmap
  • Develop and maintain communication and participation with management in learning programs
  • Stay curious and research best practices in learning, growth and development to ensure our programs evolve in progressive ways
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of technical experience working in the industry
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest developments in technology and training methods, and should be committed to ongoing professional development. This may involve attending workshops, seminars, or industry conferences, or pursuing further education or certification in related fields
  • Professional certifications in heavy diesel technology, such as those offered by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), Daimler Trucks of North America (DTNA) certifications, and other areas of certifications are preferred
  • Demonstrated experience understanding and helping manage a Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Proven ability to take initiative, problem-solve during ambiguous situations, use sound judgment, and maintain flexibility and composure during change
  • Demonstrated ability to work at a varied pace, adhere to schedules and deadlines, prioritize workload and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal and technical presentation skills
  • Skill in identifying and resolving problems
  • Proficient at verbal and written communication
  • Detail oriented and accurate intermediate-level computer proficiency including Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and presentation equipment
  • Ability to work independently to meet company goals and timelines
Compensation:
Exempt $70K - $95K depending on experience and qualifications
