POSITION SUMMARY:

The Bakery Applications Team plays a key role in developing new products for the baking industry, supporting the sales team, procurement, operations, and business development. This team works closely with the bakery industry team and technology teams in leading and executing projects that will deliver products to meet the market and customer needs.

A proactive Technologist is needed to join our Bakery Applications Team. You will execute bakery and non-bakery projects to develop new and improved products to address the needs of our customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 
  Support innovation projects including but not limited to new product development, and procurement & operation support projects
• Be able to work cross functionally with other departments such as operations, procurement, and R&D to achieve project objectives
• Lead and/or support new sample preparation for R&D, customers and Sales in a timely manner
• Report/discuss work status and other critical information with peers and RD management
• Participate in prototype products development and commercialization
• Establish and document specifications for new products based on lab development and plant trials
• Cultivate a team atmosphere with peer groups and upper management
• Assist in maintaining a lab environment that is clean, organized, and work ready
• Be flexible in taking additional tasks as needed to support company's business goals

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Bachelor degree in Bakery Science, Food Science, Cereal Chemistry, or related fields. AIB, or CMB a plus, but not required.

• 3+ years technical experience/development work within the food industry preferred
• Basic formulation and industrial processing knowledge relating to bakery products.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
• Able to work independently to complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences concerning technical and business needs.
• Must have problem solving skills.
• Capable of self-management and multiple project/task management

• Self-starting attitude
• Possess a general understanding of bake lab analytical equipment.
• Occasional overnight travel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Postural changes such as sitting, reaching, climbing, standing, walking, ascending/descending ladders or stairs, and lifting occasionally.
• Occasionally operates computer, other office equipment, pilot lab production equipment, baking equipment, etc.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position such as sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time.
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 55 pound boxes or bags of material.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
• The ability to observe details at close range.
• Exposures encountered such as dusty environment, hazardous materials, loud noise, low or high temperatures, office, plant, warehouse, lab, and outdoor exposure.
• Maybe required to come in early or stay late at times.
