Glacier National Park sees over 3 million annual visitors and encompasses just over 1 million acres of largely wilderness area and is known for its seemingly endless acres of rugged and breathtaking landscapes. Glacier National Park was established in 1910 and stands today as a monument to wild natural places. As part of the Crown of the Continent ecosystem, the park includes 175 named mountains, 762 lakes (131 named lakes), 200+ named waterfalls and 26 named glaciers, as well as 1,000 plant species, and hundreds of animal species. Employees can explore the park’s 745 miles of hiking trails, take a bus tour on Going-to-the-Sun Road, or kayak in clear lakes.

  • Seasonal position starts in April and extends through mid-November 2023
  • Location: Based out of the Xanterra Administration Office in Columbia Falls, MT
  • Pay Rate: $1,788 bi-weekly

Responsibilities:
Position Summary: Coordinates the planning, training and scheduling of 70+ drivers and concierge as well as maintenance scheduling of tour busses, shuttle vehicles and company vehicles. Involves heavy communication between the properties, tour coordinators and drivers to ensure we are giving our personal best in the servicing of our guests who utilize the various transportation options within Glacier National Park. Assists in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary.

Essential Functions:
  • Schedules all drivers to maximize transportation revenue and guest satisfaction.
  • Monitors transportation staff performance to ensure company procedures and safety measures are consistently followed. Conducts field reviews as part of monitoring process in accordance with Federal and State Department of Transportation compliance and National Park Service regulations. Provides disciplinary reports/counseling when appropriate and necessary.
  • Monitors/records driver logs for payroll and other records.
  • Monitors drivers’ attendance ensuring prompt and courteous service.
  • Maintains records to allow for proper maintenance of vehicles.
  • Provides training and materials for proper product presentation.
  • Enforces all company policies and regulations.
  • Assists in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary.
Qualifications:
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
  • Dispatch experience with commercial bus line preferred. At least 3 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Must have, or have the ability to obtain, a valid commercial driver’s license.
  • Must possess strong organizational, leadership and computer abilities.
  • Must possess ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with immediate staff and all levels of management within the company.
  • Must be friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic and courteous in dealing with guests and co-workers.
  • Must be able to handle guest concerns in a professional and tactful manner.
  • Must use tact and discretion due to exposure to confidential matters.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to sit, stand, stretch, kneel, bend for up to a 10 hour day
  • Must be able to work in sub-zero weather for a short period of time.
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 10 lbs, occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.
