Trauma Data Assistant – Trauma Program

Help Make Tomorrow Better for Our Injured Patients

New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is a verified American College of Surgeons Level II Adult Trauma Center, providing around-the-clock access to a multidisciplinary team of Emergency Medicine physicians, advanced practice providers and nurses, trauma surgeons, operative services, multiple subspecialties of surgery as well as comprehensive inpatient acute care and rehabilitation. The Trauma Team incorporates every department and service in the hospital, which you as a part of the trauma registry staff will be an integral part of.

Help support a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals who are there for patients who experience every type of injury, under every kind of circumstance and work diligently to get them back out there living life. As a Trauma Data Assistant, work with the Director of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care. Trauma Program Manager, Performance Improvement Specialist and Trauma Registry staff to identify and abstract trauma patient information in accordance with the American College of Surgeons Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) and the New York State Department of Health. Help to impact the bigger picture and patient outcomes with the identification and analysis of trauma episodes of care and communicate with the trauma team to ensure patients continue to rely on us for amazing care through all phases of trauma care and recovery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• Knowledge and/or experience with ICD10 coding
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical record
• Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) certification

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Strong data abstraction and computer data entry skills
• Knowledge of basic Anatomy & Physiology
• Knowledge of basic Medical Terminology
