Job Title: Travel Assistant (part-time)

Reports to: Travel Supervisor

Location: Las Cruces, NM

Terms: One (1) to three (3) 10-hour days per week (one day guaranteed)

Must be available to work Saturday or Sunday

Overtime may be available (through Manpower NM)

Rate: $15/hour

Schedule: 8:30AM – 6:30PM

About the Role: Travel Assistants cooperate with a team in the operations of BSC’s Hospitality Center

(temporary shelter) and report to the Travel Supervisor on duty. The role is predominantly interpersonal with guests and team members within the scope of daily operations.

Responsibilities: Operations: Works with Travel Team to carry out operations at the Hospitality Center

(temporary shelter). Relevant operations include, but may not be limited to:

• Travel Office
• Welcome and register guests
• Assist guests with information about paperwork, social services, etc.
• Facilitate communication between guests and their sponsors including, but not limited to, travel arrangements
• Assist guests with ticket purchasing utilizing a variety of platforms
• Explain travel to guests, when needed

• Welcoming & Teamwork
• Collaborate with all members of the Hospitality Center – including community volunteers – to ensure success of the overall operation
• Welcome groups visiting the site

Candidate Requirements: Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: Minimum one (1) year of full- time work experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Conversationally fluent in Spanish and English, required
• Proficient computer skills (familiarity with Google-based systems preferred)
• Comfort speaking to and directing crowds, and utilize de-escalation technique
• Demonstrated skill at prompt and professional verbal and written communication
• Skilled at working in a team-oriented collaborative environment
• Strong initiative
• Flexible; ability to adjust to changing circumstances
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to demonstrate gender-sensitive and non-discriminatory behavior attitudes

Additional

• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check
• Current driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Completed COVID-19 vaccination and booster
