Truck Driver Job at Ocean Spray
Position Summary:
Transports fruit from various cold storage facilities to the Wisconsin Rapids Plant via semi truck and trailer with a capacity of more than 3 tons.
During the harvest season directs the routing of semi truck trailers on Company property for incoming and outgoing merchandise. Using the spotter truck, picks up dropped trailer loads of fruit from the yard, weighs them through the scale, and delivers them to the appropriate pool for unloading; after unloading, transports the trailer to the scale for weighing and drops it back in the yard.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for daily truck inspection prior to use.
2. Utilizing a forklift, loads totes/drums of concentrate onto a trailer, secures the cargo, and transports the merchandise from Wisconsin Rapids Ocean Spray to specified cold storage locations.
3. Loads bins of berries from designated cold storage locations and transports back to Wisconsin Rapids Ocean Spray.
3. Maintains daily mileage log in accordance with state and federal regulations.
4. During Harvest season: Assist with yard preparations. Responsible for trailer inventory and trailer placement. Coordinate with the Scale Attendant to transport dropped and sampled loads from the yard to the receiving pools.
5. Advises the Supervisor or Lead Worker of any operational problems, equipment failure, or safety and quality issues.
6. Required to attend work on a timely and consistent basis for scheduled Harvest hours. Ability to work overtime as required.
Decision-Making Authority/Accountability Level:
Accountable for intact and timely delivery of merchandise and the safe operation of company equipment.
Minimum Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:
Must possess 2-4 years of truck driving experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must possess the capability to understand and carry-out instructions given in verbal, written and diagram format. Must be able to read and interpret safety policies, operating and maintenance instruction manuals, and procedure manuals. Must be able to solve basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems. Must be able to read and follow road maps and be able to follow verbal directions.
Education and Experience:
Highschool/GED Preferred.
Certifications/Licenses
(i.e. JD or CPA or electrician)
X CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) required; Forklift certification required.
Experience
2-4 years preferred.
