Position Description
Scope of work. The mission of the Tulalip/Marysville Recovery Café is to build and maintain spaces where people in recovery will meet, build community, and support each other though loving accountability. The successful candidate will support this mission in two phases.
Phase 1: Become an expert in the Recovery Café model and the requirements of membership in the Recovery Café Network. In collaboration with volunteer leaders, complete all steps necessary to open the Tulalip/Marysville Recovery Café. Tasks include: Finalize operations plan, purchase insurance, Agency software training and setup, and outreach to potential members.
Phase 2: Manage operations of Tulalip/Marysville recovery café two days a week, by supervising and assisting volunteers to perform all necessary work. Specific responsibilities include: Hospitality; daily food preparation, set-up, clean-up; inventory control and ordering of food, supplies and equipment; regular cleaning and maintenance of the facility and equipment; resource referral and support for members; support Café members, patrons, community volunteers and staff through listening and encouragement; facilitate small support groups; obtain member input for improving operations informally and through monthly member meetings.
Minimum Education, Work and Skill Requirements.
Education: College Degree or Master’s with focus on social services, counseling, psychology, mental health and/or recovery issues preferred. Relevant work experience may substitute.
Work Experience: 2-5 years progressively responsible work experience in a position utilizing skills relevant to this position. Supervisory work experience preferred
Licenses & certifications: Driver’s license required. Drug and alcohol counseling or recovery coach training desirable but not required.
Skills/Knowledge: Strong organizational skills. A working understanding of budgets. Strong interpersonal communications skills. Ability to serve as a motivator, conflict resolver, and “de-escalator” for both volunteer leaders and members. Ability to accurately represent Café services and programs to other agencies both orally and in writing. Ability to work amicably on a diverse staff team with flexibility, creativity and enthusiasm. Proficiency in basic computer skills sufficient to communicate effectively with staff and other agencies using Microsoft Word, Excel and email-Outlook. Personal understanding of the recovery journey (not necessarily in recovery from substances themselves). Ability to embody principles of recovery in daily interactions. Strong desire to support people who are on the recovery journey. If the candidate is in recovery from alcohol and/or other substances, he/she must have at least two years sobriety.
Compensation. Part time position 2-3 days a week for an initial six-month to one year contract. Hourly rate DOE.
