Job Description
Under the general supervision of the UG Projects Manager / UG Mine Manager, the UG Project Engineer will collaborate with UG Mine Operations, participate in mine study, and reviews / evaluations of the UG Project. The UG Projects Engineer will Contribute to a positive work environment and be a strong advocate for the UG Project.
Job Responsibilities
- UG Project calculations including optimization, mine design and life of mine scheduling.
- Mine engineering studies including scoping, pre-feasibility, feasibility, and due diligence reviews.
- Strategic planning, and tradeoff analysis.
- Works cross-functionally with all disciplines to validate studies, plans, and mine economics.
- Equipment selection studies.
- Cost Modelling and Financial Analysis.
- Regulatory compliance testing.
- Cycle time studies and haulage network development.
- Collaborate to develop block models for mine planning purposes.
- Contribute to the production of technical reports and documentation including documentation of processes and work practices.
- Support the development of UG potential based on an indicated reserve and resource model.
- Work with site UG Operations, and Tech Services management staff.
- Work with and manage consultants and contractors as required (Especially during the study phase).
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Geology, Mining Engineering, or a Related Field.
- 3-5 years’ experience in Surface and or Underground Mining.
Skills
- Knowledge of Mining, and Milling methods.
- Knowledge of Engineering Techniques as they apply to Ore Body Evaluation and Mine Operations.
- Proficiency with mine planning software systems, such as MineSight, Vulcan, Surpac and or NPV scheduler. Exhibit an interest for learning these systems.
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
- Understanding of spreadsheet based cash flow analysis.
- Technical report writing and presentation skills.
- Very strong communications skills. Team player with a strong inclination towards developing cooperative solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- The work schedule would be a 4 and 3 (4 days on, 3 days off).

- Typically reports into the Underground Projects Manager
