The Department of Neurological Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks an experienced part-time Neurosurgeon with expertise in general neurosurgery (including cancer, spine, etc.) through surgical therapies for a part-time position. There is a great need to cover the fast-growing current census of such patients and a need for such expertise at our local VA Hospital whom we contract with. Rank will be commensurate with experience and this position will integrate into our existing General Neurosurgery division. The Department of Neurological Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks an experienced part-time Neurosurgeon with expertise in general neurosurgery (including cancer, spine, etc.) through surgical therapies for a part-time position. Minimum Requirements:
MD or Equivalent
Preferred Requirements:
Candidate must be a fellowship trained Neurosurgeon and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience post residency/fellowship, be BC/BE in Neurological Surgery, and eligible for a South Carolina medical license. Successful applicants should possess excellent clinical skills and have experience teaching fellows, residents and students. Research experience in clinical trials preferred. Applicant must be Board Certified or Board Eligible. The position is posted at the Associate Professor rank on a clinician educator tenure track and is dependent upon the qualifications and accomplishments of the applicant.

(Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction. (Continuous) Ability to hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet. Must be able to maintain bi-lateral hand movement skills. (Continuous) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Continuous) Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually. Additional New Requirements: Ability to maintain a valid drivers license. Computer literacy. Ability to work rotating shifts. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.
