Van Driver: Transports the elderly and disabled to and from medical and other personal appointments.
- Picks up and transports elderly and disabled citizens to and from designated locations.
- Delivers meals to the homebound.
- Assists passengers, as needed, in getting on and off the van.
- Maintains order while transporting passengers; monitors interactions, intervenes as necessary.
- Ensures the van is properly maintained and available for use; reports and/or coordinates maintenance needs.
- Follows emergency procedures in the event of accident or breakdown.
- Maintains mileage, trip logs and other related records.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma and at least three years directly related experience, or an equivalent of education and experience.
- Valid Virginia Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
- Successfully pass a background investigation and pre-employment medical/drug screening.
The work requires physical exertion such as walking over rough or difficult terrain; recurring standing, stooping, climbing or walking; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items weighing between 25 and 75 pounds and may require the occasional lifting of objects weighing in excess of 74 pounds. The work may require specific physical characteristic and abilities such as heightened strength, mobility, and dexterity.
The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions. The employee may be required to use protective clothing or equipment such as masks, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, or shield.
