This position will serve as the Veggie Van Coordinator and will work under the direction and supervision of the Association Program Manager for the Veggie Van Mobile Farmers Market for Niagara County.
Primary responsibilities include assisting with procurement and management of inventory, operation of POS cash register, Veggie Van daily maintenance and cleaning, customer service, food and record keeping. On a daily basis, the coordinator will pack food boxes, drive the Veggie Van, procure produce from partner farms, and maintain Veggie Van organization and cleanliness standards. The coordinator is expected to discuss Niagara County agriculture and local foods with customers to engage them in these areas and to provide information upon request about the food and farm products distributed on the Van.
This is a 5-year, 1.0 FTE grant-funded position.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s or Equivalent Education. (GED/High School Diploma with one-year transferable program/functional experience may substitute).
- Experience relevant to the role of the position.
- Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in English.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position
- Must be able to drive personal or Association vehicle for pick-up and delivery of product. Handcart or dolly may be used for transportation purposes – no heavy equipment use required.
- Ability to lift 20lbs to 50lbs regularly with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to transport/move supplies and equipment, climb stairs with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
- Ability to complete basic math functions in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability and willingness to work with diverse audiences and maintain cultural sensitivity.
- Proficiency with windows-based software including use of internet-based communications and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Deliver high quality, existing agriculture and food systems related educational programs and information.
- Utilize a variety of educational methods which may include direct teaching, group experiences, media, newsletters, electronic technology, on-site and distance learning to deliver program.
- Conduct in-service training for volunteers and distribute subject matter resources/materials.
- Serve as a subject-matter resource to participants, community organizations, and the general public utilizing existing subject matter resources and connection to Cornell faculty, regional teams, local organizations, and partner agencies.
- Interact with program participants and volunteers representing CCE in a professional manner at all times. Presents as a positive role model in all program activities and programs.
Administrative Direction - 5%
- Provide input in planning the structure of Veggie Van programming via various methods.
- Provide input to assist supervisor with planning program budget and needs.
- Assist in the planning of public events and programs including, but not limited to, assisting with mass media efforts related to upcoming events and programs.
- Assist with development of marketing strategies, public affairs, and special events to reach target audiences and meet program objectives.
- Working under the established guidelines, develop and enhance relationships with appropriate volunteers, agencies, organizations, industries, and community leaders to promote the agricultural program(s).
Administrative Management - 5%
- Support volunteer direction and management procedures are followed according to established policies and procedures by providing guidance, leadership, and resources for volunteers and volunteer leaders including recruitment, screening, orientation, training, evaluation, and management.
- Provide supervision and coaching of assigned temporary staff providing constructive feedback and overall performance management.
- Assist in identifying and recommending program needs (i.e., program supplies and materials)
- Assist with solving problems and resolving conflicts that arise within the program utilizing appropriate policies and procedures and with supervisor guidance as needed.
Administrative Coordination/Operation - 70%
- Assist Supervisor in daily running of the Veggie Van Mobile Farmers Market.
- Assist in providing existing information to bring awareness to the public in the form of social media posts, impact statements, articles for progress/annual reports, and news releases, etc.
- Collaborate with SNAP-Ed staff to effectively promote and integrate health and nutrition into Veggie Van programming.
- Serve as a team member and cooperate with the entire association and Farm to School program staff to achieve association goals.
- Coordinate administrative tasks related to ag programming and Veggie Van such as connecting community members to existing resources, distributing, and disseminating program materials, compile, and maintain educational materials.
- Schedule volunteer events, meetings, programs, and training to foster contact and relationship building within program volunteer base.
- Coordinate and assist with special projects and outreach efforts as required by Supervisor.
- Track and record volunteer activity.
- Participate in team decision-making activities.
- Distribute and collect surveys and evaluations.
- Assist with identifying activities and resources necessary to implement initiatives and projects. Provide supervisor with program related information to assist the budget development process.
- Maintain confidentiality of information of all information and data collected, accessed and/or maintained.
- Effectively maintain existing professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.
- Provide data and information in a timely manner to assist with preparation of reports, impact statements, and success stories on program progress and accomplishments for funders, advisory committees, Board, and others, as necessary.
- Prepare and submit accurate expense reports, mileage reports, receipts/supporting documentation, and/or vouchers in a timely manner per established policy and procedures.
- Transport of self and/or program materials/resources in performing position responsibilities as required.
Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
- In cooperation with the Supervisor, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities.
- Participate in all required orientation, training, and/or in-service meetings and trainings as scheduled/required.
- Pursue personal growth through expanding personal knowledge of the total organization and through updating techniques and technical skills relating to the position.
- Carry out assignments and other duties as assigned by supervisor, including but not limited to local health fairs, community activities, etc.
