Job description

MWS Wire Industries was founded in 1968 as a manufacturer of insulated and bare wire for customers in aerospace, defense and electronics industries. In the nearly five decades since its founding, the company has expanded into wire manufacturing for medical devices, automotive, musical instruments, sensors and consumer electronics, in addition to the original markets for magnet wire and special electrical conductors. In Nov 2020, MWS moved to a brand-new facility in Oxnard, CA and are looking to grow with our fantastic employee base.

The shipper is responsible for filling customer orders, including material selection when necessary, and product labeling, packaging and routing in accordance with written and verbal instructions. Shippers also complete miscellaneous tasks assigned by the supervisor. The Shipper reports to the Warehouse Manager.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Basic reading and math skills.

2. Clear, legible handwriting.

3. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

4. Ability to perform visual inspection of product quality.

5. Ability to lift and carry heavy weight for short distances.

6. Ability to use Microsoft Windows

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Retrieve and return product to the proper location in the warehouse.

2. Read and follow instructions on pack slip/traveler.

3. Operate shop equipment safely.

4. Operate weighing, labeling and packaging equipment properly.

5. Double check work for errors and for conformance to written instructions.

6. Check product for damage and conformance to workmanship standards.

7. Basic knowledge of routing procedures (air bills, bills of lading, UPS and FedEx computer entry).

8. Physical inventory of product and use of inventory control system.

9. Basic product knowledge including specifications, trade name cross-references, AWG and decimal sizes.
