Web Accessibility Analyst Job at vebyond corp

vebyond corp Remote

Requirements

  • Familiarity with disability types and the different ways in which individuals with disabilities use technology.
  • Must be able to hand-code HTML and CSS - inspect the code, analyze the violations, remediate in the browser's rendered code, and retest. This makes sure that we recommend the best solution for the situation.
  • A deep understanding of the difference between ADA, 508, and WCAG compliance requirements.
  • A strong understanding of accessibility guidelines and standards, including WCAG 2.2 AA.
  • Deep understanding of WCAG violations, how to identify them, and how to best remediate them.
  • Demonstrated experience with manual accessibility testing using assistive technologies, such as screen readers, magnifiers, and voice recognition software. You can use a Mac or Windows machine.
  • Familiar with automated tools but don't need or rely on them (any of us can run an automated tool, this role is for someone who wants to explore, break things, find the code issues, figure out how to fix them, then teach developers how to do better).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and in a remote team environment.
  • Passion for making technology accessible to everyone.

A Day in the Life

  • Most of your day will be spent conducting manual accessibility testing of digital products, such as web applications, mobile applications, and software, using various assistive technologies, including screen readers, magnifiers, and voice recognition software.
  • You can choose to work with a Mac or Windows machine.
  • You'll identify as many UX A11Y issues as possible and use our template to provide detailed feedback to the development team to ensure issues are addressed promptly (and correctly).
  • You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including researchers, developers, designers, and project managers, to ensure accessibility is integrated into the development process.
  • You'll test on multiple platforms and devices, including desktop, mobile, and tablet—native iOS and Android programming knowledge is a plus.
  • If you know native mobile app coding or React (and we hope you do), you'll be working closely with the development teams to teach them the best ways to integrate UX A11Y into their code.
  • You love to stay up-to-date with the latest accessibility guidelines and standards, including WCAG 2.2 and 3.0.
  • You'll participate in UX A11Y-focused presentations and initiatives to improve the accessibility of our digital ecosystem.
