The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources strives to maintain healthy populations of fish and wildlife across the state. The Wildlife Division of Kentucky Fish and Wildlife is currently seeking a Wildlife Biologist IV for the Farm Bill Program Branch. This position is located within USDA Service Center and will provide technical assistance and conservation program delivery to private landowners.
Responsibilities and job duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

The Wildlife Division of Kentucky Fish and Wildlife is currently seeking a Wildlife Biologist IV for the Farm Bill Program Branch. This position is located within USDA Service Center and will provide technical assistance and conservation program delivery to private landowners.
Responsibilities and job duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Work in a joint capacity with USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and KDFWR along with other State and Federal partners to promote, coordinate, and implement the conservation provision of the Federal Farm Bill and other wildlife related conservation programs.
- Supervising five Private Land Biologist.
- Working with NRCS Area staff to ensure wildlife resource concerns are addressed, program promotion (workshops and one on one meetings), contract coordination, conservation planning, conservation plan modification, site assessment and reporting.
- Provide technical biological assistance for wildlife habitat enhancement techniques to provide landowners and public organizations.
- In addition, staff will also provide wildlife technical support and planning at the NRCS Area Level as well.
- A knowledge of the conservation provisions of the Federal Farm Bill.
- Knowledge of or practical experience with agricultural systems and farming.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with landowners and partner agencies.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision and with diverse clientele.
- A 37.50-hour work week (with occasional overtime required)

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a biological science, wildlife biology, fish and wildlife management, conservation biology, natural resources, environmental sciences, or related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have five years of professional experience in wildlife management, wildlife biology and/or a related field.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in wildlife management, wildlife biology or a related field will substitute for one year of the required experience. A PhD degree in wildlife management, wildlife biology or a related field will substitute for two years of the required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Working Conditions
Spends majority of time outdoors. Must be able to traverse rough and mountainous terrain with equipment.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
