Sales Associate, Windmill Wine & Spirits - Saugerties Village

We're seeking energetic, focused, and enthusiastic candidates for the position of Sales Associate at our boutique wine and spirits shop. The shop leans toward natural wines but also carries a sizable portion of classically oriented product, as well as a smaller selection of spirts, to suit the needs of a dynamic clientele.

Our ideal associate will have prior experience in the wine or beverage industry, or at the very least will maintain a willingness and interest to learn about the vast world of wine and spirits. They will be tasked with interacting one-on-one with customers on a daily basis, and as such will be expected to build the knowledge necessary to assist with any questions these customers may pose. This includes but is not limited to:

• easily locating specific wines within the shop

• the capacity to convincingly describe each wine’s various attributes when asked

• the ability to offer creative equivalents to wines/spirits that are requested but which are not

currently on hand

• providing confident pairing advice for food and events

Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and an unwaveringly courteous disposition are also required in line with a specialty retail setting. Importantly, candidates must also be comfortable soloing the shop and shouldering these responsibilities without the manager present after completing a training period. 21 and older is preferred in order to assist with on-sight tastings and events, and a personal vehicle and willingness to run the occasional delivery is also a plus.

For the remainder of the spring we can offer part-time hours starting at $17-20/h depending on prior experience, with the potential of promotion to full-time and a raise for the summer and beyond if the fit is right. Hours and schedule are somewhat flexible, although weekend availability along with two full weekdays is a must.

Additional Roles & Responsibilities:

• Work alongside the manager to receive, move, and process new inventory, keep shelves

stocked, maintain an up-to-date website, and produce in-store content for our social media

• Promote cleanliness and organization of the shop floor and employee-only storage area,

presentation to be in line with company values

• Opening and closing the shop within company guidelines

• Working the POS, checking out customers
