This role has the primary responsibility to install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and electrical systems in a commercial or industrial establishment.

This position is full-time benefit eligible. Hours: A general work week will be Monday to Friday from 9:00 pm- 7:00 am (Negotiable); additional hours may be required due to business demands. Weekend work is expected based on project demands.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, and other duties as may be assigned:

  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems.
  • Proficient in assembling and wiring electrical control panels.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment manufactured by various OEMs.
  • Capable of learning to write code, install and troubleshoot Rockwell PLCs and HMIs
  • Understand and install Rockwell PLC/HMI Networks (Ethernet, RS485, Modbus, RS422, and Serial)
  • Capable of learning x-ray systems.
  • Understand robotic systems (Fanuc and BPA).
  • Capable of learning servo and stepper-controlled systems.
  • Troubleshoot, Upgrade, Install, and program VFD s (Rockwell VFD s)
  • Troubleshoot and program barcode scanners (DataLogix and Keyence scanners).
  • Troubleshoot and maintain HVAC equipment and EcoStruxure software controls.
  • Troubleshoot and repair packaging equipment, as needed.
  • Troubleshoot, program, and repair temperature-controlled systems – various types.
  • Train co-workers to understand technical equipment as needed.
  • Attend seminars, classes, and other educational opportunities to keep abreast of new technologies and performance expectations.
  • Communicate well with managers and co-workers.
  • Diligently work on tasks/breakdowns to completion (Job Ownership).
  • Work with outside contractors/technicians to learn their equipment and solve problems.
  • Be on the emergency call list to help off-shift personnel to correct problems. Be willing to drive to Herr s on off-hours to assist with troubleshooting and repairs of nonfunctional equipment when downtime is evident.
  • Perform other Maintenance duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Associate s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • To perform this job successfully, knowledge of PLC technology and Industrial Electronics is preferred. A working knowledge of Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating systems. Must be willing to learn the maintenance CMMS software system.
  • Must have a valid driver's license. Must have a current forklift license or be able to obtain one within 90-days of hire.
  • Must be able to operate motor vehicles, including forklift. Must have strong electrical and/or mechanical skills. Must have knowledge of and the ability to operate hand and power tools. Must be able to read, write, understand and speak English.
  • Work cooperatively with maintenance and production personnel. Occasionally work within tight time constraints. Must pass a job-related assessment with a score of 70% or better. Must possess a stable work history with good references.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee must have vision corrected to 20/30 or better.
