Summary:

The Technical Instructor will be responsible for conducting Advanced Individual Training, (AIT) through classroom and or hands-on performance-oriented training, training, and simulation/virtual training. The objective of this effort is to successfully train the number of students assigned through the Structured Manning Decision Review (SMDR) process and the additional Soldiers tasked through the Training Resource Arbitration Panel (TRAP) process.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conduct classroom/laboratory conference, discussion, demonstration, and practical exercises (PEs) including course introduction, technical information delivery, hardware practical exercises and various forms of computer-assisted instruction in accordance with (IAW) with course material, Technical Manuals, and student workbooks that are provided by the Government.
  • Specific subjects to be taught are dependent upon the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) Program of Instructions (POI) to which the Instructors/Writers will be assigned. Scheduling of classes is the responsibility of the respective training departments within the schools.
  • All instruction shall conform to the principles and concepts contained in the Government approved program of instruction, TRADOC regulation 350-70 and TRADOC regulation 350-6 and shall ensure performance to standards for all stated tasks.
  • The 94M/94S instructors shall be required to perform (or assist in performing) tests and adjustments on POI associated equipment and components to specific tolerances; and determine shortcomings and malfunctions in electronic assemblies, subassemblies, modules, and circuit elements with common and system peculiar test equipment on a limited basis to return equipment to operational (or pre-instructional status) prior to turn-in etc.
  • Administer written performance tests IAW the POI, TRADOC regulation 350-70, TRADOC regulation 350-6 and the ODS SOP.
  • Administer hands-on performance tests IAW the POI, TRADOC regulation 350-70, TRADOC regulation 350-6 and the ODS SOP.
  • Conduct student critiques in accordance with USA ODS standard operating procedure.
  • Provide remedial training for students requiring additional instruction in order to perform student objectives to standard. All remedial training will be conducted IAW TRADOC regulation 350-6 and ODS SOPs.
  • Reinforce the Army Values and Contemporary Operating Environment Variables along with standard academic instruction.
  • Shall prepare classroom or training area IAW ODS SOP. This preparation includes ensuring sufficient amount of training aids and equipment are available and serviceable; and reviewing lesson plans, subject matter material, inserting and removing faults, impairments, and problems.
  • Shall pick up and return training aids/devices from local classrooms/simulation labs IAW ODS SOP.
  • Shall maintain equipment modifications and update training aids/devices IAW ODS SOP. Some assembly and disassembly of training aids/devices is required. This also includes completing maintenance paperwork and reports concerning equipment support of training and utilization.
  • Conduct daily composite risk assessment and annotate risks in the classroom. Instructor/writer will monitor student performance to ensure steps are taken to mitigate any residual risks that may be present.
  • Monitor expendable items in classrooms and laboratories and notify the COR who will notify the Division Chief or NCOIC when supplies are at or below prescribed levels.
  • Provide redline changes to training materials and lesson plans within their respective MOS based on lessons learned and new training requirements mandated by TRADOC.
  • Conduct academic counseling and complete counseling record IAW ODS SOP.
  • Grade written tests and performance tests IAW TRADOC regulation 350-70, TRADOC regulation 350-6, TRADOC regulation 350-18 and ODS SOP.
  • Perform other tasks as instructed.

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Shall be able to perform tests and adjust components to specific tolerances and determine shortcomings and malfunctions in electronic assemblies, subassemblies, modules, and circuit elements with common and system peculiar test equipment.
  • Shall be able to perform DS/GS level maintenance on the Major End-Items of equipment associated with the respective POI.
  • 94S Instructor/Writer shall not possess claustrophobic tendencies IAW DA PAM 611-21.
  • Possess hand/eye coordination and finger dexterity in both hands IAW DA PAM 611-21.
  • Shall have normal Red/Green (RG) perception IAW DA PAM 611-21.
  • Able to meet training, technical and tactical certification of course content, and provide documentation of certification/training.
  • Shall achieve a 90% on the written and practical exams prior to beginning instruction for the modules they are assigned to instruct.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office computer programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) to ensure ability to access/work with required training material.
  • Able to perform duties regarding moderate lifting (not to exceed 45 lbs.), long periods of standing (up to 3-4 hours at a time) and sitting (up to 3-4 hours at a time) or walking (up to 3-4 hours at a time), climbing up and down equipment steps/ladders (up to 3-4 hours at a time) and work in/adjust to inclement weather conditions on occasion. Shall have satisfactorily completed the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Common Faculty Development Program Instructor Course (CFDP-IC) or its equivalent and the TRADOC Initial Military Training (IMT) Installation Staff and Contractors Training Course ISCTC) or its equivalent. Proof of certificate required prior to starting work.
  • Knowledgeable of applicable regulations and doctrine regarding TRADOC AIT, have superior written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work with minimum guidance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years specific 94S Patriot System Intermediate-Level Maintenance experience in teaching, reviewing course material, training aids, and manuals for vocational or military training programs; or three (3) years as a 94S MOS NCO; or previously certified to teach a module of the 121-94S10 course.
  • Active secret clearance
