OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for executing the tasks of the shipping and receiving department in the main AVT manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for picking, packing, and shipping of customer orders as well as supporting material movements within the AVT manufacturing facility, AVT offsite facilities, and local vendor locations.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review work orders to manage assembly cell to support product shipment.
- Assemble and test valves.
- Visually inspect painted part for any imperfections.
- Material handling of parts between departments.
- Drive company vehicle between company locations to move product.
- Test, document, maintain, and repair tools and equipment as needed.
- Follow safety rules and procedures - notify supervisor of any issues in the manufacturing process that may impact safety.
- Receive packages and shipments from internal departments and vendors.
- Pack and ship product to customers as per sales order.
- Support inventory management and warehouse upkeep.
- May make recommendations to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations.
- Contribute to the department continuous improvement culture.
- Adhere to Company quality procedures, standards & product specifications.
- Assist in achieving departmental targets (as defined in Departmental Key Process Indicators).
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace, and abide by workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Other tasks as directed.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Good oral and written communication skills, especially the ability to follow written and spoken instructions.
- Basic analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, read documents, and do basic counting and measurements.
- Experience in warehouse/shipping & receiving operations.
- Experience in assembly/manufacturing operations.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation
- Ability to work up to 5 days per week, up to 10 hours per day (4-day 40 hour workweek average)
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently
- Effective organizational skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to use computer, mouse, and keyboard
- Must be able to: lift 55 pounds and walk frequently, stand for extended periods
- Quality-focused workmanship
- Willingness to learn and be taught
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1 year in a warehouse role or shipping & receiving role
- Fork truck driving experience
- Exposure to lean manufacturing
- 6-Sigma white belt or entry-level 6-Sigma experience
- Exposure to ISO 9000 quality standards
- Exposure to ERP software is a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
