Provide quality customer service within the Deli/Bakery Department. Responsible for maintaining standards in accordance with best practices, maximizing sales through excellent customer service and minimizing shrink through proper utilization and storage of products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
DELI:
· Providing responsive, exceptional service to deli counter customers by answering questions, making recommendations, providing samples, and responding to requests.
· Recommending, slicing, weighing, packaging, and pricing meats and cheeses.
· Preparing special orders and party trays.
· Updating displays, cases, and other customer-facing areas to ensure new items and promotions are showcased.
· Ensuring that work areas are ready to service customers by cleaning surfaces, equipment, and floors, removing trash, and confirming that tools are in working order.
· Following all food safety and sanitation procedures established by the company and other regulatory agencies.
· Cooperating with others to ensure customer satisfaction.
· Confirming that all displays, products, and services comply with company standards.
BAKERY:
· Designing and improving recipes.
· Measuring and combining ingredients and using mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other equipment to make baked goods, such as cookies, bread, cakes, etc.
· Decorating and displaying finished products.
· Testing ingredients and finished goods to ensure that each item meets food safety and quality controls.
· Greeting customers, answering questions, making recommendations, accepting orders and payments, and providing exceptional customer service.
· Keeping records relating to deliveries, inventory, and production levels.
· Taking client information and ensuring that requests are fulfilled accurately and on time.
· Cleaning and restocking workstations and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift.
· Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast, friendly, and accurate customer service to create a positive shopping experience
· Courteous and helpful to other associates
· Follows all technical manuals for processing of product, label placement, etc
· Ensure that preparation, conditioning and displaying of merchandise is done in accordance with policies and guidelines
· Ensures proper sanitation of department, equipment and proper food handling/preparation
· Maintain a complete understanding of and adherence to company guidelines, policies and standard practice
· Understand and follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures
· Observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents
· Report all associate and customer accidents in accordance with established Berkley Supermarket procedures to the Manager on Duty
· Wear the Berkley Supermarket uniform, complete with name badge, when on duty, has a neat and clean appearance while adhering to the Berkley Supermarket dress code
