Business Intelligence Developer Job at New Hanover County
New Hanover County is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer to work as part of the IT Enterprise Analytics team, designing, developing, implementing, and supporting enterprise BI data, reports, and dashboards. This position will work with cross-functional teams, participate in requirements gathering and coordinate with county leaders and business analysts, to design, develop, test, and implement, enterprise databases, reports, and dashboards that utilize county data with required BI technologies.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Enable operational and analytical reporting capabilities for internal business customers- Provide support as required to ensure the availability and performance of developed reports, dashboards, and solutions
- Provide technical assistance and cross-training to other team members
- Write high quality SQL code to retrieve and analyze data from multiple source systems.
- Contribute to ongoing development and maintenance of an analytical Microsoft SQL server instance
- Troubleshoot data-quality issues, validate result sets, recommend, and implement process and performance improvements for data.
- Analyze, synthesize, and communicate complex data-related issues clearly and succinctly to both internal colleagues and external clients.
- Thoroughly analyze APIs and recognize core industry concepts and workflows
- Help to inform people of business and enterprise solutions across various platforms
Must be available to report for emergency work assignment during emergency situations.
Salary Information:
The hiring range for this position starts at $65,232.00 - $88,063.50 . Salary will be determined based on qualifications, budget, and market considerations.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field and five (5) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Required skills:
2+ years of specific BI operational and analytical reporting experience- Excellent analytical ability, communication skills, solid judgment, and the ability to work effectively with both business and technical associates
- Strong experience developing, monitoring, tuning, and deploying scalable BI solutions, reports, and dashboards
- Experience in extracting, cleaning, and integrating data for reporting through ETL and SQL methods
- Knowledge of modeling concepts (relational and dimensional)
- Expertise writing advanced SQL queries and triggers, design and code complex stored procedures
