YOUR LIFE AS A SUMMER CAMP DIRECTOR
nAs a Summer Camp Director with our human services nonprofit, your mission is to make sure our summer camp program is a success by recruiting, training, and supervising staff, maintaining facilities and equipment, and ensuring the health and safety of everyone at Camp Colonie. In this seasonal position, you develop, implement, and evaluate recreational programs that cater to children and young adults with special needs, while educating the public about our camp. To succeed in this recreational management role, you must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Your background in human services or nonprofit work and experience working with children and young adults with special needs comes in handy. You know NYS Department of Health and OPWDD camp operation regulations like the back of your hand and can develop and adhere to a comprehensive Safety/Risk Management Program.
nYou're a people person and maintain positive relationships with local school districts, parents, and students. Reporting and analyzing data related to clinical services and student progress is no biggie for you. You have a passion for what you do and enjoy spending time with those with special needs. You work around the clock to ensure they have the best summer camp experience possible. You know that you are making a difference in the lives of your students and feel proud to be part of a human services nonprofit that is changing the world. By working with our recreational management you are creating an unforgettable summer camp experience!
nYour schedule in this seasonal role is full-time and during the summer, working six weeks straight for our integrated summer camp program for children and young adults aged 5-21 years old. While the schedule can be demanding, you'll have the opportunity to work with a dedicated and talented team of staff who share a passion for helping others, making it a truly rewarding experience.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU AS A SUMMER CAMP DIRECTOR

- Must be at least 21 years of age n
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to camping, rehabilitation, or education n
- NYS Students with Disabilities (SWD) Teacher Certification n
- Minimum of five years of administrative or supervisory experience n
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation n
We want the person in this seasonal role to be highly organized, detail-oriented and have excellent communication with great interpersonal skills. You should have a strong background in human services or nonprofit work, and experience working with children and young adults with special needs.
