Child Care Development Program Assistant

Department: Child Care Development (CCDF)

Job Title: CCDF Program Assistant

General Definition: The CCDF Program Assistant works under the direct supervision of the CCDF Director in administering childcare services to the children and families in the Eastern Shawnee Tribe’s service area. The highest duty of this position is to provide effective and timely service delivery to Tribal Citizens.

Supervision Exercised: None

Essential Job Functions:

· Receive and process applications for child care assistance and grant awards

· Re-certifications for childcare

· Provides car seats and new born starter kits for families

· Process childcare provider timesheets

· Willing to learn Native American culture and traditions

· Available for all CCDF sponsored activities, some of which may require evening and weekend work

· Willing and able to assist in the organization of, and will participate in CCDF sponsored activities (Children’s Pow-Wow, Parenting classes, Provider Trainings, etc.)

· Promote resource material in the community

· Attend local, state, regional and national childcare meetings/trainings

· Filing, auditing and mailing correspondence

· Represent the Tribe in a professional manner at all times, when working with Tribal members, in dealing with outside entities and situations with fellow employees

· Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

· High School Diploma or GED required

· Associate’s Degree preferred, or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Excellent verbal and written communication

· Organizational skills

· Detail oriented

· Multi-Tasking and time management skills

· Data management, and spreadsheet maintenance skills

· Office management skills, including but not limited to typing, data entry, record keeping and filing

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

· Excellent customer service

· Respect for all Tribal Members, Tribal Officials, Supervisors, and Co-Workers

· Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution

Licenses/Certifications/Other:

· Current valid driver’s license

· Must be able to pass a NCIC adjudicated background check

· No felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions for offenses relating to children or illegal drugs

· Must be able to pass a TB test

· Must be able to complete pre-employment drug test with a negative result

Native American preference policy is as follows: Legally enrolled Eastern Shawnee Tribal members shall be given preference if the tribal member’s experience, qualifications, training, and all other criteria including the job posting are equal. Tribal Members or Citizens of other federally recognized Tribes shall have second preference following the same criteria, followed by any other applicants. (Resolution # 021011-R-03) Only Certified Degree of Indian Blood cards will be accepted as verification of Native American Heritage for other tribes.
