Due to growth of the organization we are in search of a qualified individual to fill the position of Chief Operating Officer. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee all aspects of operations to include finance, property maintenance and associated projects and procedures. S/he will design and implement business and financial operations, oversee services performed by third party finance and all third partyvendors, in partnership with CEO establish policies and proedures that promote organizational culture and vision, and oversee daily operations of the organization. As the Chief Operating Officer, s/he will serve as part of the executive team (c-level), assisting the President/CEO and is responsible for the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the President/CEO in addressing a range of strategic issues including enhancing organizational effectiveness and integrity, providing staff leadership, along with overall strategic planning and initiatives for the organization
  • Partner with the President/CEO to monitor budgets, provide insights, develop outside partnerships, and budget for sufficient investment capital to achieve growth targets over the near term
  • Acts on behalf of CEO as back-up in the CEO’s absence
  • Develop and coordinate business strategies, structures, plans, policies and procedures across the functions of operations, finance, and maitnenance which promote company culture and vision
  • Directly oversee day-to-day operations of programs, finance, tracking and evaluating performance, and ensuring each function understands its role in relation to the other functions and mission
  • Develop and maintain department budgets
  • Responsible financial reporting, policies, procedures and outcomes
  • Collaborate with other Senior Leadership Team Members to co-manage Operation Holiday
  • Monitor changes in laws, regulations, and technology that may affect business operations of the organization
  • Evaluate organizational performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
  • Responsible for financial compliance and report for all grants, ensuring submission, compliance, and timely reports
  • Partnering with President/CEO to provide a work environment supportive of organizational accomplishments and individual growth and evaluating the annual performance of all employees ensuring the staff and organization attain their goals
  • May stand in for the CEO if this senior executive is out of the office or otherwise engaged.
  • Helps support other senior executives and employees, including to advise on promotions and organizational structure
  • Develops and implements policies for daily operations, and communicates these policy changes to department supervisors
  • Ensures alignment with current company policies and goals, including those that the COO creates themselves, as well as those developed by the CEO and other executives.
  • Attend public engagements and represent HumanKind at various community activites
  • All other duties as assigned by the President/CEO.

Qualifications, Expectations, and Competencies

Qualifications

Required:

· Bachelor’s Degree

· 5+ years of experience in finance, business administration, nonprofit management

· 5+ years of management-level experience to include supervising multiple direct reports

· Experience growing an exsisting company or organization

· 5+ years of experience in accounting and financial management

· 7+ years of experience with Microsoft Office

· Valid Kansas Drivers’ License

Preferred:

· Property Maintenance experience

· Master’s Degree in the area of finance, business administration, or related field

· Nonprofit Management

· Raiser’s Edge Software experience

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The position is regularly required to make use of close vision to read correspondence and prepare reports and other appropriate communications. S/he must hold a valid driver’s license to attend community meetings, and offsite events, and transport donations made by volunteers or event supplies. This position will also be required to assist in the physical set-up and preparation for special events and activities. Must be able to lift 25lbs. This position is Monday through Friday, from 8:00am – 5:00pm but some meetings, volunteer activities, and events require evening and weekend attendance as well as on-call rotation involving nights and weekends.
